Getting Traffic Through Kindle Direct Publishing

I started my online Journey by publishing short eBooks on Amazon and getting royalties for my sale. The KDP Select is an amazing tool amazon has developed for publishers so that they can promote their eBooks for free. Depending on your niche, you can get over a 1000 downloads a day.
The way I do it is, I rewrite the articles on my website to sound like an ebook and then publish it on amazon.
Do not forget to insert links that take the reader back to your website or affiliate link.

Yes I do make references to my website and I do leave out some important information which can only be found on my website and I direct them to website via links to that information or training.
So Cedric I have a question: What's the benefit of doing KDP Select? There's gotta be a catch. I don't really understand the cons you listed in your post. But I'm new to this. Do you have all your ebooks listed with KDP Select?
