The third procrastinator type is :

The “I Don’t Have……Procrastinator

If your fall to excuse is a lack of ANYTHING for doing the work, you are an “I Don’t Have” Procrastinator.

Do you say “I don’t have” any of the following?

  • Time: “I’m just too busy right now” – you say. “Need to wait until I have more time on my hands and then I will start working on the goal”.

Guess what? You never really set a plan about how to work on those goals, and that is why you can keep pushing them out. You’ve also got a streak of the Wishful Thinker / Dreamer Procrastinator in you! (See my first post in this series).

  • Money: “Can’t really afford to start right now, it’s just too expensive. It only makes sense to wait until the financial situation is better. So, I won't sign up for this WA program" - for example. Remember that where there is a will, there will be a way. How about seeking help....??

Once again, it’s tomorrow…..and tomorrow…….and tomorrow!

  • Knowledge and Skills: “Goodness me, I don’t think I have the skills to achieve this goal and the information I need to learn will take me time. I don’t even know where to begin!”.

The problem here is two-fold. You are afraid to step out of your comfort zone and have the excuse to keep you there!

  • Contacts: Once again, it’s an issue of not having something, but in this case it is contacts. A really good excuse for procrastinating, since it could take forever, if at all for you to find these contacts. Very convenient! Excuses could be "I don't have a mentor to help me out at WA or my questions are not being quickly answered"

Do you see yourself through the lens of an “I Don’t Have” Procrastinator?. If you do, it will be challenging to get much work done! Stay tuned for solutions after we discuss the remaining 2 types of procrastinators in this series.

Ceci, I am working on that now! Since I been with WA, I have improved immensely; however, I still have a long way to go. But I am going to keep moving.

Canty

That's the spirit Ronnie :)

Excellent! Being self aware is so important because this means that you can more easily "course correct" when you find yourself veering in that direction.

Ceci

That's not me, thank goodness lol
Sadly, I have a lot of experience with individuals of that nature

Ha!Ha!Ha! You and me both......These folks are just about full of excuses for everything!

Ceci

Lol
I know :)

I never truly thought about it to be honest, Ceci! I just plow forward through each new day! Very thought-provoking post though!

Jeff

Yes Jeff! Few folks are aware that they are actually procrastinating when they come up with these kind of excuses. Now you know.....:-)

Ceci

I'm likely one of them, Ceci, but it has served me well my whole life! Perhaps one of the pitfalls of being self-employed for over 30 years!

Jeff

I've always thought, "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail"!!

Very good mantra to live by. Unfortunately, you will be amazed at how many folks just dive into their days with no planning whatsover :-)
