Procrastinator Type 2 is.......

The Last-Minute Deadline or Crisis Procrastinator

This type of procrastinator leaves everything until the last possible second.

The problem with being a last-minute procrastinator is that you end up having too little time to finish the work or you must pull an all-nighter, sometimes ending up with “average” work. The quote by Fred Brooks says it all. Sometimes you find that you are so far behind that you think that the only option is to "just give up". Really? IF you want to be successful in WA, THAT IS NOT AN OPTION!!! You must break the habit!

Do you say?

  • “I like working under pressure because I’m more efficient at the last minute”.

These procrastinators like the adrenalin rush of knowing that the deadline is approaching and having to do everything in an accelerated manner. But doing everything in a rush often means that you produce poor quality results.

  • “I am just not motivated today - tomorrow, I’ll be in a better mood or, it’s too hot or it’s too cold or I’m too tired, or my spouse or children or boss put a damper on the day!” These folks have oodles of excuses!

The thinking is that tomorrow will be a better day, However, what happens is that they re-hash similar excuses the next day…..and the next……..and the next……. That is called procrastination!

  • Love the quick and easy tasks? You start with something fun and simple but put off the harder work for later in the day…..

Unfortunately (you tell yourself) because you’ve been SO BUSY there never seems to be enough time left for the hard work at the end of the day! Really????

If you answered “Yes” to any of these, then you are a LAST-MINUTE DEADLINE PROCRASTINATOR!

The best way to accomplish a task is to start with the hardest task. Brian Tracy says we should " Eat the frog." first!
If you start with the easy tasks, you will be overwhelmed when you get up to the difficult tasks. It's better to start with the difficult task and then tick the easy tasks off your list.
We all suffer from one form of procrastination or the other. I am no exception

Very true! Nobody is immune to procrastination,
Ceci

I definitely have some of these traits but do struggle to meet up.

It is always helpful when you are self aware. This actually puts you in a position of strength as you know what to look out for.

Ceci

I'm not going to lie, Ceci! I have been a last minute procrastinator many times. On the other hand, I have had many good days when things ran smoothly! How I roll currently is taking each new day as it comes, since I never know what my business will bring me from one day to the next!

You speak very true words though!

Enjoy your weekend!

Jeff

Honestly Jeffrey...most of us exhibit a bit of 2 or more procrastinator type behaviors - including :"yours truly" (:- Self awreness is so important though, because you can then begin to catch yourself before you descend into the "rabbit hole".

On the other hand, there are great scheduling techniques (not software) that will allow you to remain structured even when new things turn up. Believe me, although my days are a huge juggling act, I am able to stay on top of everything because of effective scheduling.

Ceci

I will certainly take that into account, Ceci! Thanks for elaborating further!

Jeff

I am definitely a last minute procrastinator! Even when I don’t wait until the last minute. You could say I procrastinate in between paragraphs.

But, I’m getting better!

Canty

Ha!Ha! That is so funny - procrastinating "in-between paragraphs" (:- I would probably call that distraction!
