What To Do When Picking a Niche:

Good Monday Morning WA!

I'm seeing a lot of people having an issue with picking a Niche so I thought I would offer my own insight into the topic.

First let's get clear on what a Niche even is...

A niche is a specialized segment of the market for a particular product or service. Think of it as a Genre in a specific Industry. When picking a Niche you should start with a narrow focus and a big vision. You don't want to be TOO specific nor TOO broad.

You should also pick a topic that:

  1. You are Passionate about
  2. You know a lot about or are interested in learning
  3. Targets passions and solves a problem
  4. Is profitable

To get started, write out a list of things you are passionate about. These can be broad industries. For example, I'm passionate about cooking. Cooking is a Multi-billion dollar industry and is too broad to really be profitable. So then we would narrow it down to a specific "genre" or Niche in the cooking industry that targets a problem people are having that we can solve. Maybe you're cooking to loose weight, or gain muscle, or want specific tips on BBQuing. Maybe someone wants to know how to cook the perfect steak.

So we have picked something we are passionate about: Cooking.

Now we car narrow it down into something more specific like: How to cook to lose weight.

or, How to BBQ on the grill. Food to cook to gain muscle.

In order to help you narrow it down, you can use the keyword research tool provided to you though this website. You can type your industry into the google search bar and look at different suggested searches, read different blogs in the industry to get an idea of what kinds of questions people are asking, search on YouTube, etc. It takes a little work, but once you get it narrowed down to something that solves a problem, that means it is profitable! Even better if it's a topic you are interested in, but don't know much about because then you get to learn new things while building a brand that is going to make you money! You're literally getting paid to learn about something you're interested in! WAY better than paying money to an institution to teach you,but I digress.

If you're still having trouble picking a niche, don't hessitate to reach out to me or any of the other millions of users here at WA, we can only help you if you're willing to help yourself though. This is YOUR business. You have to get serious about making money online, and be prepared to make absoultely nothing for the first bit when getting started. If you're completely new to this, there is a LOT to learn, and it will take some time to build the skills and get comfortable/confident in your abilities.

This is a basic guide to help you get started picking a niche to build your website around. There's a TON more info on this topic out there on the interwebs, and here in the WA program. Put in the work, and learn a new skill that will allow you to make money when you want, from wherever there is an internet connection. The learning curve can be small, or it can take YEARS, it all depends on how much work you put in, and how badly you really want it.

You have ALL of the tools you need to succeed right here, the rest is up to you. Luckily, you have a community here that really wants to see you succeed!

Best wishes,

-Chris W.
