Economics and Financial Education - This Humble 19 Year-Old's Opinion
SO many of my friends, my age and younger, do not understand how economics works. Either they were not taught proper, or they just simply do not care. This got me thinking...
HOW CAN YOU NOT CARE?
FINANCIAL independence is an amazing thing to have. It is something which I didn't have for a long time, and when I gained it, I never wanted to lose it. Once I did, I was devastated. I vowed to get it back. I succeeded, but now I have lost it again, because the day job that I had was making my life miserable.
THE reason why I am giving WA a fighting chance is because I want to achieve my independence and security financially again, without having to work a job I hate. This is something I have experienced before, and will experience again, but for a lot of my friends, they haven't reached that point yet.
OBVIOUSLY most of us are, and will be, in a financially unstable situation, but financial independence is something we should ALL strive for. That gives you freedom, security, peace of mind, food, a place to live, it can do SO MUCH GOOD for you and your life.
TWO mentors in my life regarding economics were my economics teacher senior year, and my grandfather, who died just before I started college. They showed me this crazy, in-depth system of who gets what, when, and how, which is LITERALLY the study of economics.
ONCE all the pieces came together, I realized that this was a true art form, and that there was something awe-inspiring about how all the cogs fit into the machine, and work with one another.
GUESS what I'm trying to say is, not just for friends my age, but for everyone in general to take charge of their future, and control their own destiny. You can do that through studying economics, and working towards your own kind of financial freedom and independence. It can be so hard sometimes, but if you're lucky, nobody in this life will ever just simply GIVE you anything.
WORKING FOR IT MAKES IT ALL THE MORE SATISFYING.
AS ALWAYS, thank you for reading! I hope that you have an ECONOMICAL day today!!

Many in my community haven't had to care. I expect them to be living in their parent's basement well into their 20's. Good for you that you get how things work. Your future is definitely brighter!
Well, I am still living at home XD but my college for the next year and a half is only half an hour away, so, to save money by not having to pay room & board, it just made sense.
Wherever I transfer to after though, they already told me they're migrating south to Virginia, so, after I graduate from FLCC fall 2019, I'm on my own haha.
