How I am seeing this pandemic unfolding (with a political twist).
While watching the news on television this morning, there was, I believe, an advertisement. It may have been part of the news broadcast. At any rate, it was talking about how China is responsible for what is happening throughout the world. I couldn't help but think:
"That is a very prejudist statement! We have enough division in this world and this is a time we need to be united (as a world of human beings)."
Most white people believe that fine crafted dishes (aka China) came from England, when they actually (originally) came from China, which is how they got their name. This is because the ingredients in China's soil (or clay) are superior for the making of fine china!
If the virus had originated in (insert your country here) how would you feel being shunned? Oh, yeah! You have been told that the Chinese government did not report the crisis soon enough and tried to cover it up. I am not saying if they did or didn't. All I'm saying is to watch out for "being a follower" and possibly buying into propaganda. Even if this is so, should the entire country be penalized for what the government does?
I am being pulled and stuck in the middle of two of my cousins that are much more political than I first realized. One is an avid Trump supporter and the other is a Democrat!
Let me tell you this: I am neither for nor against Trump's administration or the Democrats. In fact, in the last Presidential election, I voted for Gary Johnson! If you're bored and wish to do some research, you should check out his campaign trail. He was at the New Hampshire primaries renting a mountain bicycle (in oder to stay healthy) instaed of out kissing babies (to show off) in the limelight. Being the governor of New Mexico, he also finally got their budget balanced. I put a lot of research into that to base my opinion on the best candidate for the job. Of course, I knew he wouldn't win, but I didn't feel compelled to place my trust in any of the others that were running. Why? (Just because everyone else was!) This is only my take on things. My caution is to think about things and form your own opinions based on common sense. I stand in the middle of the road because I do not have all the fact (for certain). Until I am certain, I refuse to have an opinion (until I know for sure).
The point is of this post is:
We are all (GLOBALLY) in this together. It's a time we need to come together, not just as a nation (which is fine), but as a world of human beings (in the most compassionate sense).

Maybe I am missing something here but the covid-19 pandemic did come out of China (how is it racist to say that?). I have nothing against the Chinese people but I do not like the Chinese government (this also is not racist).
To say that they hide the fact and didn't report it soon enough means we should shun or penalize the entire country for this? It was probably only their government that (may have) done this! As an entire population, why should they be blamed and penalized? If the tables were turned and (y)our government did this, would you want other countries doing it back to you/us? I am asking folks to think for themselves instead of following a crowd or buying into any propaganda. I am (also) asking my cousins to be more compassionate and not so racist. We all have to live on this planet together.
Here's a thought:
What if evil monster aliens came from outer space?
Would that finally bring our world together as one?
Why are you so angry that people are saying the virus started in china. It doesn't mean that anyone hates the chinese people. How are the chinese people being penalized (except, of course by their own government) by saying that (it is a fact). If the virus started here then people would say that.
The world is coming together to fight this pandemic. Countries are working together to make a vaccine. Countries are sharing what they find out about this virus and what they are doing to combat it.
So I still do not get your point. I do not think it is right to blame the chinese people. Most people are not doing this. But it is a fact that the chinese govt tried to hide it initially (that is a fact not prejudice).
How is the whole country being penalized?
Your reply has opened my eyes to how others may see me. I did not realize I came off as angry. I'm more sad and bewildered by the actions I perceive of others around me, namely the media and my cousins (who are at opposite ends of the fence to which I'm astride). Thanks for your input.
I am sorry you are saddened by what you see around you and as for the media - they are, for the most part, always going to put their own spin on things and distort the facts.
What I personally try to do is to separate fact from fiction (media's personal spin) and watch the news reporting that stays closest to the facts (this helps me personally not to get too overly emotional).
As for other peoples' racism and prejudices - it is difficult to turn them around - all we can do is show by example and stick with our own beliefs.
I think the negative reaction of some people to the asian
/ americans in this country is appalling and very wrong - I for one make sure I frequent chinese takeout once a week (I like chinese food anyway).I feel it is showing that I have no animosity toward the chinese people themselves.
