What Is The Decision Making Process About? Choosing A Great Niche
Every day, you make hundreds of decisions, many without even placing conscious thought. They are the routine things that you do such as choosing a toothbrush or a glass to drink your orange juice.
Few of you may ever stop to ask: What is the decision-making process about and how does it impact on the results that I achieve?
Understanding how you approach this very important process and the results you gain could give you the upper hand and help you to make some key changes to improve your effectiveness.
Let's look at this in the context of building your online business. One of your first important decisions is choosing a niche.
You Re-Act Emotionally First
Choosing your direction starts with choosing a niche. This comes at you very early on in the game and many of you will struggle with the process of deciding what niche to choose.
Thousands of blog posts have been written on the subject but where do most of you almost immediately jump to?
Yep, you got it! What niche makes the most money. That is your first emotionally-driven reaction.
But, is it the best decision-making process?I discovered this great article from January 2014 - almost 7 years ago. It is a reminder to pay attention to your passion as you decide on a niche for your online business.
Many others remind us about that also and Kyle constantly speaks to it in all our training.
But, do you take the time to walk through the process of understanding your passion?
Do you really know what feeds your passion?
Your Passion May Be Low Priority
To push past your initial reaction to choose a niche that "makes a lot of money" you must remember that whatever niche you have chosen, needs to inspire and motivate you every day. You will be living with it, feeding it, growing it and expecting it to do the same for you.
At the time of joining Wealthy Affiliate (WA) in October 2019, my passions were not a high priority for me. I was busy doing life, all the routine things that keep as away from thinking about our passion and working on it.
Before I was able to tap into my passion to decide on my niche, I had to rediscover it.
This is a critical step in the decision-making process for finding a niche that many of you miss. Yet, it could well determine your level of success.
Begin With You In Mind
Don't let emotional pulls get in the way of making a decision that may not be best for you. You are surrounded by competition and success at WA and it could be an easy trap to fall into.
Begin your decision-making process with you mind. Think about your goals, dreams, passions and aspirations.
Do not fall emotionally into the bucket of bling, glitter, and money. If you make the best choice for you, your gold investment will not only provide sustainability and success but never-ending joy as well.

Hi Cassi,
Picking a Niche market is not an easy decision. When I decided on my Niche market, I went with my passion, helping people developing better skills within their own abilities. When I worked for General Motors as a trainer, I got see a lot of talent being wasted, and I focused on what the staff needed and encouraged them to start believing in themselves first that apply daily skills to build more confidence.
Amazing how small steps develop into huge successful steps.

This is a great example of the decision-making process behind choosing a niche, Joseph.
I really like this: "helping people developing better skills within their own abilities"
It is focused and unique enough to become an authority.
Thank you for sharing.

Cassi I have a lot of hobbies that I am extremely passionate about. When I was trying to decide which to choose, I chose one, made a siterubix website and then continue to think about what I was going to write, while still doing the training. I eventually changed it because although I was passionate about it, I did not see myself writing content for at least 5 years or more, and I wanted help people on another level than what that website would have done. The decision- making process is indeed crucial in providing sustainability of a business. Great blog. Thank you for sharing
Simone, this is such a great example of how to take yourself effectively through the decision-making process.
Before deciding how to structure my business, I also used .siterubix to explore.
I looked at dance because of my daughter, travel and culture.
I then decided that "supporting personal life transitions" was the anchor and built all 3 of my websites on that foundation, each in a different way.
Thank you very much for your feedback.
Cassi
I understand what you mean Cassi. I need to see it in my mind's eye and the positive impact that it has on peoples life, just like what you did for your 3 websites, before deciding on a niche.
