Use Emotional HOOKS to MakeYour Content 10x More ENGAGING

Humans are emotional beings.
Recently, I have been spending a lot of time working with human behaviour through my coaching interventions. I also observe the engagement that emotion attracts right here at Wealthy Affiliate (WA).
For content to be compelling - to draw you in and keep you interested - you must appeal to our human senses, our emotions.
Here are 4 ways to do that and an example of some of our WA members who use these emotions in their blog posts.
1. Humour

There was a tie between Hugh and Partha for this one. Both embrace me with their examples of humourous situations and experiences.
Laughter is a great way to get your audience to lighten their load, relax their shoulders and get comfortable.
As they slide back in their seats with their arms open, their eyes and minds also open up and create a welcoming space for you to share.
Just make sure that your humour is appropriate and pay attention to cultural nuances.
2. A Feeling of Belonging
Their content is caring and nurturing and always offers a homely welcome. Perhaps it is Simone's profession or the fact that she is an attentive Mum.
Or, maybe, Jeff's relationship with the Blog Dogs and Frank.

The supportive behaviours stand out with them both and these behaviours create a sense of belonging and inclusion.
3. Tell Your Story
Our love affairs with books and movies confirm that we love a great story. Especially the ones that keep us on the edge of our seats and create mystery as we hold on to the edge of our seats
Edwin and Mel are great Storytellers.
Woven into their blog posts are some of their life experiences that help us to have a greater appreciation for the context of their article.
When you tell your story, you are helping your audience to understand the learning and benefits that may accompany taking action.
4. Create A Sense of Urgency.
Eugene gets we almost every time with his sense of urgency.
Bog posts about time and taking action really push me to do more and stretch myself further. This is especially important for me on the days when I may feel a little lethargic or in need of a pick-me-upper.
When you create a sense of urgency you are establishing a Call To Action (CTA) for your visitor. The goal here is to get them to do what is required to achieve the result that they seek.
If not done in a timely or immediate manner it could mean the difference between success and failure.
Begin With Your Title
Remember, the decision to read your blog post begins with your title. A title that does not exude energy or attract engagement will result in a blog post that sits on the internet shelf wondering why they are being side-lined.
Pay attention to those first words and make sure that they are effective hooks for your audience.
Experiment.
Try to incorporate a variety of emotion in your blog post and see how each one impacts your traffic.
What about you?
What emotions do you use to connect with your audience?
