Typical Introvert

I am an introvert. On a scale of 1 to 10, probably a 20. When I was younger, I would walk through the rain or take the stairs because I was afraid that someone would speak to me and I would have to respond. What would I say? What would I do?

My career took me into finance and computer programming. Not much communication there. Then, at the age of 21, I was appointed a Supervisor. My life started to unravel. Everyone was older than me and I had to do things like talk to people and support their learning. Who was I supposed to do that?!?!

Being an Introvert can feel like a battle.

Needless to say, after a couple of years, I literally fired myself from the job. I found these people difficult to work with. They didn't listen and, even worse, they were afraid of computers! How could they be afraid of this wonderful machine that did so much without much human maintenance?!

Flipping The Script

All through my life I have lived with internal conflict, trying to find a balance between being at peace with my internal functioning as an Introvert and the daily demands of my career and life. I allowed myself to feel that being introverted was a weakness.

My careers have taken me through Marketing, HR, Communications - all requiring me to perform publicly. People always seem to gravitate towards me and I have not been able to understand why when my preference is to be in a hammock with a good book.

Yesterday I was contacted my a Journalist from one of our daily newspapers to be interviewed for an article about how parents are managing their children at home during COVID-19 self-isolation. I felt humbled and honoured.

There is value in what you have to say.

The Journalist contacted me on Facebook. Since starting my digital career, I have been more active on Social Media and have become very visible in my community as a result. I have launched pages for my 2 WA websites and I try to update them regularly. The Journalist was attracted to my writing and contacted me for her article.

It occurred to me then that, I may not be the first one to reach out physically as an extrovert may do, but I am always available to support and assist when asked or necessary. Much of this sharing I do through my writing and messages and, people do value my contributions.

Wealthy Affiliate Is An Incubator

Very quietly and unknowingly, I was beginning to retreat into myself following a series of unpleasant events, including being made redundant twice in 4 years. So many good things have happened to me since I joined our WA Community over 5 months ago.

Always a glass-half-full gal, I never stopped searching. My searching led me to WA and I am forever grateful.

WA is an incubator. In this Community, the support to become successful - not just financially, is unprecedented. You also become wealthy as a person. As you develop internally, so will your writing, attracting more followers, visitors and earnings.

You grow in so many ways at Wealthy Affiliate.

In this very special, warm and embracing place I have found a group of people who have accepted me, welcomed me and who support me every day. I can check into WA at any time of day or night and converse freely.

Those generous actions have helped me rebrand myself and reconnect with the goodness tat exists in the world. Much needed during these life-changing global times.

Namaste.

Yeah Cassi, growing and showing that growth that you simply cannot hide.
You are beautiful on the inside as that beautiful , warm, content with your own transformation and how it's going, I say self-assured smile is on the outside.
I just adore you and thank you for the direction and IN spire ation.
Suzay

Suzay, you are always so very kind and supportive.

Thank you very much for helping me transition and for the INspire-ation that you give.

Cassi

Thank you Cassi and God has blessed you in so many ways with One of a Kind kindness that will massively open doors for you because of your diligence. Which means knowing what must be done and the time it needs to be done in.

Most of us have not, including myself mastered myself! Although I am "getting the value of it" more and more.

Control of oneself is the prime mastery is what Cassi teaches us.

They refused to eat their veggies as kids, or take out the trash as a member of the family, or clean their room to learn organization and pride in work done well.
It's not getting that it is not a free ride for anyone. And everyone must share the chore part of family life, or life in general.
Like our WA Fam pulls together, or us as believers pull together spiritually with Our King and eachother.
And Cassi is a "if it's going to be, it is up to me!" person, but with that special Kindness that entreats others to put in their best and increasing effort for their own goals to manifest into attainment.

i think there are probably not words to describe that driving beautiful thing inside you Cassi, but it is beautiful sharing and caring. Thank you, thank you!
Suzay

What an amazing story. It is stories like this, I like to write about. I like sharing someone's amazing journey. It's encouraging seeing someone so similar to yourself reach their highest goals.

Reading this reminds me of my high school years when I used to eat out of the vending machine in a small corner of the school because the cafeteria was just too big (and loud) for me. When I finally got my license, I got to avoid it altogether because I could actually sit in my car or find a drive-thru nearby. I don't know that much has changed as I still eat in my car today. Lol.

Like you, I pursued a Computer Science degree.. for years.. and for obvious reasons. I wanted to be that guy in the basement, creating high-tech computer programs and games. That never happened. At some point, I got introduced to marketing, changed my degree plan, and the rest is history.

Enough rambling... I do appreciate you sharing this with me. I will reference it from time to time as I go about reinventing the new me, all while creating a tremendous business.

Barry, introverts tend to have an affinity for technology.
Perhaps it is the critical thinking and processing that we enjoy so much.

I must spend some time trying to discern what the key touchpoints are.

You will find a lot of good company here.
People who are seriously committed not just to earning online but to building sustainable businesses and to personal development.

I wish you the very best.
Cassi

Cassi, I am feeling that you are telling my own story. Except for the interview part, but the rest fits :-) I chose my childhood dream as a profession. But I hadn´t expected how this would force me to be in the "spotlight" continuously in every meaning of the word. But I am still here, in the same profession and has moved on to an even more exposed position in my profession

Also being a martial arts practitioner, competing in the national and international arena, has been a challenge of enormous magnitude to me. Standing alone on the tatami with everyone's eyes on you does things with you.

To this day I am still fighting my introvert side. But I have always been able to cope with it, no matter how hard it has been.

I like the description of WA as an incubator. It has certainly been like that to me so far.

Great post, Cassi. Sharing your story with us means so much for all of us, especially for us who are introverts and have to fight that side of their personality every day.

-Roy-

Roy, introversion may be the affinity and synergy that resulted in our like-mindedness and connection.

May I suggest something that has helped me tremendously - in all aspects of my life - language.
I wrote about it yesterday in Execution 101: I used to say that I struggled with my introversion.
Then, I changed my script and embraced it.

Instead I said, I will use the positive aspects of it.
My ability to observe, listen actively, communicate with empathy, courage and resilience.

I sense these also apply with you and have resulted in you being successful in what you do.

I now see being an Introvert a blessing and I carry it with pride.
As you should.

Have a great day!
Cassi

I understand you so much!!
I am part of the team of severe introverts who have managed to get out of this state thanks to the professional world. It is true thanks to my work with the children I had to get involved with them and their family and it helped me to get over my blockages. It's not a winning fight because it's so easy to fall back on yourself, so let's continue to open up. There are so many beautiful people to know.

Ingrid

Ingrid, I would never have guessed.

Like you, my daughter is helping me a lot without even knowing it.
She is very outgoing and I am always supporting her.

That's why I like WA.
The interaction keeps me engaged.

Enjoy your Sunday!
Cassi

Hello Cassi, like you I am an introvert. I learn to speak and present because it was part of my job. Usually, I prefer to stay alone and away from the crowd.

Yes, I am growing and learning to engage more. We all have to in order to make money selling, even online.

So very true, Stanley.

I have learned to come out of my shell more.

Good company to be in.

Cassi
