A Key to Success!

It's a glorious morning here in sunny New Zealand and I would rather be at the beach today but have lots of work to do. My last post was about connecting with people through our content, keeping it real and remembering our audience are real people.

I wanted to take this a little further and discuss PROFESSIONALISM, as I feel this is one of the important keys to our success.

The Merriam-Webster definition of professionalism states: "the conduct, aims or qualities that characterize or mark a professional person."

In any career, our conduct or interactions/behaviour determine our level of success with dealing with people.

How we conduct ourselves directly effects our personal and professional reputation.

It is always more difficult when presenting ourselves as strangers on an online platform because of the non-direct intetreactions.

Face to face we can present ourselves as professionals through the way we dress, speak and behave, but online we need to be able to deliver intent in a more creative manner.

Others need to view us as professionals, authorities in our field. Trustworthy, ethical and honest.

How do we do this?

Consistency.

Consistent sincerity, humility, common courtesy and integrity.

If this shows through in our blogs, our reviews and any daily interactions with those we are in contact with, it not only demonstrates our own professionalism but builds trust not only for ourselves but for those we represent.

We are putting ourselves out there on a global level. How do we want the world to view us?

Just because we are building our businesses from home on a laptop, does not mean that we have to bahave like we are not at work.

When I bagan this journey, I worked from the couch in my PJ's but now I organise my time, have a diary and get up and dressed as though I were attending a physical workplace. This changed the way I work and although no one can see me, I have a view of myself as a professional.

How do you view professionalism in the online world? Would love to hear your views.

Wishing you all the greatest success.

Thanks for this reminder!
I work with children with autism and other dysfunction.
I always make sure that I have a good presentation,
so that they understand that appearance is important.
Because wherever we are in the professional world,
appearance is important, it's a way to respect ourself and others,
in my opinion.
What we do in WA is not a hobby and it's good to have a schedule and a professional attitude.
It's sometimes difficult because we are at home and all alone,
but it allows us to move forward more easily.

Thanks for your nice post
Ingrid

Thank you for sharing Ingrid. Wow love what you do, I have spent t part of my teaching career also working along side very young children with similar conditions as well. Such a rewarding experience. Yes for me being professional has a lot to do with attitude, have a great day, Cass

Important to maintain standards or create better ones as I believe it has a direct impact on our behaviour and mindset and attitude in all that we are trying to achieve here and in life generally. Well noted and reflected on.

Thank you Alan, well said. Behaviour and mindset are great components of a successful formula for achieving. Cheers Cass

Hi, Cass, the online journey can be one of those ones that we can just stumble into and then proceed to stumble around.

It can be so easy to treat it like some kind of hobby when we are starting out, the thing that can bridge that position is to treat it like a business from day one.

It can make all the difference.

Thank you for sharing those thoughts a very good reminder for us all, developing and working on the qualities that you mentioned can help us develop and also it gives the folks that we deal with a frame of reference.

If we constantly work on developing our levels of professionalism, folks that we deal with will respond accordingly.

Alex

Good morning g Alex, that is true, start the way we mean to continue. I like that you mention giving others a frame of reference and I thino that by behaving consistently in a respectful manner helps with the too. Thank you for taking th time to comment and share your thoughts, Cheers Cass

Thanks for a reminder, Cass! You're correct that one can only become successful in life with consistency integrity, sincerity, passion, and all of that. Those are the fundamental principles of success. Thanks for this post!

Hi Isreal, thanks for stopping by and commenting.I apply these fundamental principles to business and personal relationships and find them absolutely essential for maintaining future success. I appreciate your thoughts on this. Cheers Cass

See you at the top of the online world soon, friend! Good to hear from you once again!

Thanks Israel:):)

I find it to be honesty and pride and passion in what I am doing

Hi Michael. Pride and passion are great motivators towards success😀 Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Cass

For me Integrity says it all. Great post. Cheers AJ

Hi Jill, yes and I think it is something we all fight to keep. Cheers Cass

Food for thought, and a very good point. We really do need to come across in a professional way when we interact with our visitors.

Thanks Fran, yes I do believe that is a key factor in our potential to become successful. Cheers Cass

That's hilarious and wonderful at the same time! I too get up and ready as if getting in the hustle and bustle of things from time to time. To imaginatively place myself in my work zone. But I catch myself and remember not to be so tough on Me! Maintain professionalism of course but relish in the freedom of life and the fact you don't have to do that (hustle and bustle) anymore!!!haha
Best to you!!
Nelson
P.s loved the post!!!!

Thanks yes the freedom is also wonderful and at least I don't have to beat the traffic to get to work. Cheers Cass😀

Perfect!!!

Cass,
I am still lacking in the fact that I have everything to set
up an office here at home - taking the time and energy
away from WA to do it seems to be a big downfall for me!
I keep telling myself tomorrow but when tomorrow comes
I end up right back at the computer working on training
and posts to build my sites out LOL.
Good thing I never get any company or people come to
the house they would think I am some kind of hoarder lady!
Even tho I am doing great keeping all the tasks and WA in
great order - the rest of my life is lacking.
Thanks for letting me know that eventually, I need to be a
more professional person with the personal part too!
Great post,
Susan

Hi Susan, hope you are having a good day. We all have our downfalls but don't worry. You are doing what is important for you right now and that is just as vital as anything else. Keep up the good work.
Cheers Cass

All we can do is our best, feel down about that. Just be glad! We're all smiling and cheering you on in this journey. You'll find solace in giving gratitude for the abilities and tasks you've accomplished so far!!! You're doing excellent, balancing is just that...balancing.
Best wishes!!!
Nelson

Don't feel down

Nelson,
Thank you so much - I become overwhelmed with doing
stuff around the house so much of it I cannot do alone
and considering I live alone with the dogs this does present
a slight problem LOL!
Eventually, I will just have to make up my mind and find a
way to move things by myself and do what needs doing but
until that time comes I hide inside WA and work on my
sites and they are coming along great which they should
I spend 12 to 18 hours a day working in WA so I should be
able to get this much done right!
Thank you for the encouragement it is needed,
Susan

1 thing at a time.
