Paying it Forward!
I love the saying, "Pay it Forward". There is so much 'good' in my life that I can't pay 'back'. I was blessed with parents who loved me and sacrificed for me....provided for me and protected me from those things that might cause me harm. Although my parents are fortunately still alive and well, they would not benefit from me trying to reciprocate all they have done for me. However, they have told me many times that watching me raise my own children to be good citizens, to serve God and country and their fellow man, was more than reward enough.
I was inspired to become a math teacher by two very wonderful specimens of that ilk, who have both passed on to Glory. I can't go back and thank them for the wonderful job they did as teachers, nor can I convey to them that I still get all misty-eyed when I think of the confidence they had that this starry-eyed nerd would 'make good'. All I can do, and what I have done, is try to pass on to other students the passion they passed on to me.
What of the 'greats'...the great preachers, teachers, authors, doctors, inventors, scientists, historians, statesmen, leaders, that never knew me, and yet their life work, their accomplishments, and their many sacrifices have benefitted me greatly. There is no way to really thank them, and yet, how dark would our lives be without them.
But I think most today of the unsung heroes that protect our country and our cities. Our soldiers and our police officers! Those that lay their own lives on the line each day to make sure that we have the freedom and peace to walk each day without fear. Those that have died in the line of duty, and those that each day wonder if the same will be their fate. Never will our gratitude to those who have sacrificed be spoken often enough or loudly enough to be sufficient. However, perhaps we can 'pay it forward' by honoring and respecting the position held by those currently sworn to serve and protect.
These are difficult times we live in. Times when human life is cheapened, times when heated words travel at light speed, times when fear is gaining an upper hand over reason. But the idea of 'paying it forward' is only a beautiful concept if it is 'good' we are paying forward. It is the laying aside of all the hurts and past wrongs and choosing to 'live in' the positive, the true, the 'good'. It is only when we choose to 'dwell in blessing' that we have something to 'pay forward'.
We can choose to dwell on the good things, or we can choose to dwell on the bad. I hope and pray that I will choose the good, putting away grumbling and whining, and the wrongs I have suffered, and remember and dwell on the blessings.
...Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Phil. 4:8)...and then... 'pay it forward'!

Keep up your writing PLEASE.........it is very inspirational and motivating. You have a definite talent for expression.
All the best,
Steve
And YOU obviously possess the gift of encouragement, Steve! I was so intrigued that I went and looked at your profile and 'lo an behold', there I found it! Your talent is 'empowering people to do things they never imagined they could do! Well, I affirm your talent and your gift, Kind Sir! I took a photo shot of your very encouraging 'gift of words' to me on my handy dandy iPhone, and now I can pull them out on a rainy day when I am stuck in 'a hole' that I can't write myself out of! My husband and I often sit down at the end of a busy day, and just say, "did we make a difference?" This is often the only distinguishing factor between a great day and a 'ho hum' day! Did we make a difference?...did we uplift someone...improve their lives in some way...did we have any kind of 'eternal impact?' Well, just know that today you brightened my outlook a bit, and spurred me on! I hope this blesses you as you seek to bless others by your encouraging words!
What kind words Carla.
BTW - I can answer that question you and your husband discuss for you. The answer is YES, your presence among us ALONE is a contribution to the community and our planet. So if it "appears" that you might not have contributed as much as you wanted on any given day.............push that thought out of your mind like a cloud passing in the sky. YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Oh! Another one for my 'camera captures'! Some folks collect things...well, things need to be dusted!....I collect encouraging words and kind thoughts! We can't ever get enough of those, and they don't collect dust! The only danger is that they might just make our hearts overflow! :-) But I will take the chance! You are a rare find, Steve, and your kind words are keepers. Keep spreading the joy, friend!
Hi greetings,
I am a firm believer of Paying it Forward. I just wish that more people believed in it. It would significantly impact many, many
relationships in our world today.
Thanks for your words.
Ken

By the way...where do you live? Iam presuming somewhere in USA?
Yes,Steve, I bring you greetings from Florida! Always wanted to visit Australia! Thanks for your encouragement! I love to write, but for so many years of working long hours, I have had no time. trying to get my writing skills cranked up! this is a fun forum! have a super day!
I have been to Miami & loved it! It won't take you long to get going...I'm a bit the same...just force yourself! Is your 58 the same as my 58? :-)
Yep! What do they call it when you turn the age of your birth year? :-) Certainly such a milestone has a special name! I must find out what it is....or create one. Maybe the Echo year? :-)
