Good day I retired from working for someone else last year, (fed up with the job), and although I can live reasonably well, it isn't enough.

I've read an article from the WA team about site hosting and SSL. I'm aware that SSL is very important but I didn't realize that WA hosting platform was so good.

Talking from my experience, I would recommend to host it here in WA without transferring the domain to WA i.e. just pointing the DNS to WA servers.

If you still want to transfer the domain to WA, you have to renew that domain subscription in WA during the process. Unless your subscription with GoDaddy is going to due shortly, I don't think you want to pay extra unnecessarily.

If you already have a live site with GoDaddy, you need to take the process carefully.

Make sure you back-up your site. This is something you can't skip.

If the site is still small, there is a plugin that can help you with the transfer swiftly. However, if the site has already a lot of contents, liaise with WA support to make sure the process you are going to take is correct and in order.

Good luck.

What you have done is ok. But if you want to pay WA instead of GoDaddy you can transfer it here. This very important! If you do transfer it, make sure you have a backup of you site. You don't want to lose all of your hard work. PM me if you have question about backing up your site.

Thanks for the heads up Dave. I am sort of lucky here. If I do transfer it, (won't be yet), I have a free domain with a similar name already with WA. I couldn't get a decent domain extension so chose a different domain name with GoDaddy, (as it was cheaper). All my original work is set up on that so all I need to do is keep it up to date and match it to the new site. i keep all my writing in Word as well.
Appreciate the warning though - losing a whole website might be a tad upsetting! :)
