A new direction in 2017?

Hey y'all!

Well, I intend to get this blogging thing going this year, last year was pretty slim pickings as far as actual revenue goes (um, nowt, nada, zilch, zero pounds), so I'm aiming for my first couple of pennies to arrive ...

I seem to have picked a rather odd niche - electronica music - which competes with the big boys - beatport, resident adviser, kompakt etc etc - so I'm needing to change direction somewhat, take my blog in to a new place.

Please have a look at my site, and let me know if you have any ideas on what direction I could take it! :) http://electronicamusicreviews.com/

See you there!

CheersO,

~andy~

I think the issue is your blog posts are very short Andy, at most some of them reach a few 100 words. It would be better if it was a 1,000 or more.

I would also do more reviews on electronica music, particularly on how to make it, and review products and accessories people use to make them.

Hello again!

Thanks for replying, and yes, you are right, I need to post more substantial posts, but I do find it very hard work! Perhaps I should find a niche that's really easy for me to write about - I'm thinking about that - I don't really enjoy writing long posts and doing the research without repeating what others have already said about my EDM artistes.

As for reviews of making music - I think that's too wide a subject for me - and covered very well already on the web, it's too popular a subject for me to add anything new.

I did think I could make the site a bit more about pricking the pomposity of Electronic music - it can be very up itself with flowery language to describe the most basic of techno etc. I do that a bit on Facebook, which is easier for me to do short posts.

I think I picked a niche that's not suited to me in the end, so will think about other avenues .. I've had a bit of success (hits, no actual money) with a computer blog : http://chintzbaby.com/wp/caesuramedia/blog/ - so I might do more on that.

And back to the early WA training too, of course!

Yes the niche passion is definitely at the top of things I'd prioritize Andy, pick the niche topic you like and the writing will be easier.
