Back Up Your Website, so you don't end up like me :(

I just experienced my first set back...True Story...

I spent that past 2-3 days perfecting my "Getting Started" page. I was thrilled to have finally finished. It said everything that I wanted it to say and really gave the reader a feel for what they should expect as they continued to look through my website.

However, I was not too satisfied with the domain name I chose for my website. So I set out last night to find a name that I would be proud of and one that really tied in with my "Getting Started" message. Thankfully, it wasn't long before I found the perfect name! I absolutely loved my new domain.

So now I have my domain name, but my website was initially hosted somewhere else other than WA. To make things simpler, I decided to move my whole website to WA. I mean, I really didn't have a lot to move...just my 3 starter pages. So I copied and pasted the pages to a word document on my computer with the intention of pasting them onto the new pages on my new website with my new name domain.

Everything was going pretty good. I reinstalled my theme, adding some images and set out to paste my pages into my new website.

Alright...copy and paste my "About Me"...Look it over...change some photos and voila! First page complete...too easy.

Next my "Privacy Policy" page...copy and paste...change old domain to my new domain name...done

Alright, now my "Getting Started" page and I'm done...copy and paste and............

"What the?!"

O....M....G!!! I copied and pasted my "About Me" page again. Breathe... No worries, I'll just go back and recopy my "Getting Started" page....

Guess What? It wasn't there...My "Getting Started" page...The page that I just spent 3 days perfecting...the page that really brought my website together was gone. Never to been seen again. *Tear*

Moral of the Story

BACK UP YOUR WEBSITE.... or at least double check to make sure you've copied and pasted the right thing.

Question of the day....

What is the best way to back up your website, so this never happens again?????

It might not actually be gone. If you had the site in WordPress on the old hosting, you can restore the most recent revision.
I can also help you to move the site to WA hosting if you need, using a plugin called WP Clone, you can take the old site.....back it up and restore it to the new site. Quick and easy....done in about 10 minutes.

You know where to find me if you need me to walk you through.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciate.

Great reminder for everyone. So sorry you had to go through the trouble of recreating, that is no fun (been there!).

This should help:
