This Was Not My Plan

The Original Plan

How many times have you had a plan, only to have it changed in a way you didn't expect? This is exactly what happened to me one week ago. The original plan was to purchase a domain name from a popular website. I was doing this because I was hoping to begin selling products on Amazon and thought I should have a domain name that was the same as my business name when I set up the Seller Account. I wasn't happy with all the extra fees that began showing up in my cart so I decided to pursue another option, and Wealthy Affiliate came to mind.

The Shift

I found Wealthy Affiliate a few months ago and had remembered that they sold domain names. So, I bought my domain. It could have ended right there but it didn't. I was exposed to the additional services I could have if I signed up for the Premium service. At first, I thought no, but something inside told me yes! Especially when I could get the first month for the bargain price of only $19. You see, I had heard of affiliate marketing before but was not really sure what it was all about. So, here was my chance to find out.

The First Impression

The first thing I noticed was that I already had things to do! I needed to set up my account. So I dug around my computer for a photo of myself and then had to fill out a short biography. I was a little hesitant because I wasn't sure what to include or what to leave out so I made it short and simple. To my surprise, I started getting people who wanted to follow me. This seemed a little creepy at first! In fact, I even tried to find ways to get them to disappear but had no luck. Within only a few minutes I now had several people following me, including Kyle and Carson. Soon after, Kyle wrote me a message. My first thought was that he sent me a generic message that he sends to all new people. Yet, as I looked closer I discovered that this was not the case. It was a personal message to me! How many CEOs would actually take the time to write a personal note to someone that just signed up at the very bottom. Kyle did! I also noticed that many others were writing to me as well. This was starting to get exciting!

The New Plan

So, despite my original plan to simply get a domain name I now find myself on a new road discovering what Wealthy Affiliates and affiliate marketing is all about. I am on level one of my training and impressed by how much training is available. With all of this I have no excuse except me for making something happen. I want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and support thus far. I have a long road ahead but am thankful to be on it with so many wonderful people.
