Week 9 at Wealthy Affiliate - I did a Scary Thing!
Hello friends and welcome back to another "weekly keeping myself accountable blog post" - bit of a mouthful huh? I'll work on that.
Anyways, this past week has left me really excited and pretty proud. Not only have I managed to keep up with my GoGetters training and work my way through half of Certification Course 5, but I did the 2 scariest things I have done on WA yet:
1. I broadened my niche
2. Because of this, I completely and entirely re-did my site. New menus, theme, logo..the works!
Now I see some of you shaking your heads at the crazy girl going, "but you aren't supposed to EXPAND your niche!" I hear you, but I really think I did what was best for me here and I don't think my site is going to go up in flames.
My site was originally about Young Adut Fiction, and consisted mostly of book reviews. This was awesome and I had an essentially endless supply of books to review. The probem I have been having was when it came time to spice things up and write a non-book review post. I was struggling to find things that were related enough to my niche to be relevant to my site.
My other concern was that the bulk of my audience for my site would be well, young adults. This was a much smaller issue, but could potentially hurt my ability to make money on my site.
Ultimately it was about 98% writing thing and 2% the audience thing that made me change things up.
So now, after a few gruelling days of complete website restructuring, I am finally done. I am SO proud of how the site is looking and so excited to keep going with my site now that I have expanded my content opportunities.
This week I am going to be adding some new content to my site, working through 1 or 2 lessons of Certification Course 5, and of course, keeping up with my GoGetters training. This week we are going to start working on getting traffic to our sites and I am beyond excited!
Well, that's all for now folks! Until next week :)
