Week 5 & 6 at Wealthy Affiliate - Stumbling, but not Defeated!
I cannot believe it has already been 6 weeks since I joined the wonderful community here at Wealthy Affiliate! So much has happened, and I have already accomplished so much.
However, I am also currently experiencing my first real setbacks, and these last 2 weeks have been a struggle.
I am a high school Math & Science teacher, and that in itself requires a lot of out of school hours: planning, grading, report cards, etc. This has been exacerbated by the fact that I am currently teaching 2 subjects I have never taught before...1 of which was given to me 4 days before the start of the new semester.
Now I am not ungrateful, as this is a wonderful learning opportunity for me as a newer teacher, but man has it been a LOT of work and a lot of scrambling to plan lessons for my students. I am still striving for quality and being knowledgeable in these classes so my students can have confidence in me.
However what that has meant is that I have been seriously lacking in time and energy to work on my website, and that's been very frustrating. I went from being able to spend at least a few hours per day on my site and creating content every other day, to struggling to find the time to create 1 or 2 posts per week.
But I will NOT let this get me down and I am working very hard to make better uses of my time, so that I can dedicate myself more fully to WA again. I want this website to take off and I am still more than willing to do the work. I love my niche and love to write about it, so that has not changed in any way. I just need to figure out a way to be more efficient with all my time, so that I can squeeze the most out of every minute.
I also just wanted to take a minute here to thank everyone who takes the time to read my blog posts and offer their comments and feedback. Also a huge thanks to all the people who have reached out to me in these past 6 weeks to offer guidance, advice and encouragement. You are all amazing and I appreciate every single one of you!
Well, now that I have posted this and held myself accountable, time to resume taking action and building my site! Onwards & Upwards!

It's called "Life"! It has been known to interfere with site building since the beginning of the internet. The most important thing is that you still have a passion to work on your site whenever you get the chance. So even if it's not on the schedule you first wanted, that's okay - as long as you keep thinking about it and working when you get the chance, you'll get there.
Thanks Jeannine! You are absolutely right, and this definitely won't stop me from moving forward. It just might be a little slower than I had originally hoped. I'll make up for it over the summer when I'm on holidays ;)
Hang in there. It does take hard work most of the time, especially when you are new. You will get there!
Very good point! Good thing I am not scared of a little hard work :) Thank you for the encouragement!
Thanks Elores! I am definitely trying to stay positive and I am absolutely not letting these past couple weeks get the best of me.
I feel your struggle I work 2 jobs 7 days a week.
Wish you success keep pushing forward as I plan to regardless of set backs.
Oh, that's gotta be tough! But you've definitely got the right attitude! Wishing you nothing but success as well as we both push forward :)
Do what you can and when you can, but don't end up burning yourself as that certainly won't help matters at all.
Such a good point James and something that I have been trying to keep in mind. Finding that balance is a challenge!
With a place like WA, the more you come to know, the more you realize that your knowledge is limited, and you yearn to take in more information to build on what you already have acquired. Taking in too much, especially in a limited time, can cause an Information Overload situation, which might blow your brains out :)
I know as I've been there :)
Yes, finding a good balance is a challenge...
