Making Progress

So far so good. I now have a decent base to my website, icooklikeachef.com. I only have a few posts, but I am trying to make them as rich in information as possible. I owe this progress to the Wealthy Affiliate platform for how helpful it is with its awesome members and training programs.

I created social links to Facebook, google+, twitter, and pintrest. You can now subscribe to a mailing list that will send updates and new posts directly to your email. If you have an interest in some tools I have used in my career as a chef, I have a list of some of them that can direct you to a place to buy them. In addition to these, I am also adding product reviews of these items so that visitors can get details to help them make the most informed decisions on what they need.

I've learned so much so far

Heading into this path, I had a small amount of knowledge on making websites with HTML and CSS. I was ready to start building websites in order to build experience. Then I found a link that brought me to WA. Even though I wanted to build experience putting a site together with my HTML knowledge, using the WordPress platform is helping me understand the many aspects that go into a decent website other than content and styling. The added security and support that come with WordPress are aspects that I never thought of before. The training I get on setting up my website as a business has helped me take a more professional approach. Understanding how to write content that will actually be indexed by search engines is another thing I never thought of and also helps me focus my writing, thus making it more helpful to the readers.

Anytime I run into a wall, I turn to the WA community and they are quick to help. I've had a few times when I didn't get exactly what I was supposed to do, or how to set something up. Whether I posted a question, contacted website support, or just simply searched for previous posts on the subject, I have found answers quick.

The Road Ahead

I plan on adding a lot of more content in the weeks to come. I will be adding a group review of all the best kitchen appliances I use in and out of the restaurants. I will cover lessons in grilling steaks, the best ways to cook fish, and mastering some general cooking techniques. I'm also going to try to add some anecdotal posts from my own journey as a chef. If I can get it out right, look for a post in honor of a late chef who was a big inspiration to me early in my career.
