Is Listening to Music Essential to Creating Good Content?
- Yes, it is its absolutely one of the most important things.
- No, it’s not, it’s a distraction.
- It depends on the music.
- It depends on how you are feeling.
- What’s the point in such a subjective question on a blog?
There is no way to answer the question I posted “Is Listening to Music Essential to Creating Good Content? The answers are so personal.
But isn’t that the key to a creating a great content? Writing something that creates discussion. Maybe even something that not everyone can agree with. Thereby eliciting opinions from your readers. Opinions = Engagement.
Getting an opinion doesn’t always mean courting controversy (although it could).
If getting opinions is an important component to successful engagement it maybe worthwhile considering why people give opinions:
1. Self-Validation The Selfie: They want to show the world what they know and thus elevate themselves
2. Self-interest the Exchange: They will get something out of giving an opinion
3. Engagement in the Subject: They real have an interest in the subject matter
In my view there is nothing wrong with any of the 3 above. We, as humans, at some time or another, all wear hats 1 to 3, Indeed often I find myself wearing all 3.
So how does this help us when writing content that can promote engagement. My thoughts are:
1. Show Vulnerability. Leave a vulnerable space in the article for readers to offer their views.
I’m not sure if showing this type of vulnerability works maybe it exposes a weakness of knowledge. What do you think dear reader, would it work or am I just naive? Leave your thoughts below.
2. Offer the Exchange. In the content you could help in return for an opinion
I’m uncertain if just offering an opinion exchange would work. But It maybe is worth a try. If you, dear reader could let me know what you think, and your experiences of opinion exchanges I will showcase your response on this blog. Leave your thoughts below.
3. Engagement in the subject.
If you make your subject interesting, with an eye-catching title that will hook those that genuinely have a veiw on the subject then surely, they will engage and comment?
Maybe they won’t. I will admit to being a newbie at this and I’m sure there are plenty of others in the community who know far more about this than me. I would love to hear from you and promise to showcase your reply. I find the psychology of engagement a fascinating subject, don’t you?
Am I wearing the 3 hats yet? Comment below 😊
All the Best
Brett

I believe we wear one of the three hats depending on what we are reading. I agree, we can also wear all three hats at the same time.
Content that promotes engagement also has the possibility of promoting word-of-mouth advertising. Just a my opinion lol
The 3 hats as you say Brett are human traits. Love your music theme for setting the mood to write. Whatever it takes eh.
Keep it going , you will do this well.
