Slow Day At Work
Today is going to be a slow day. Things finally started picking up and then last night went crazy.
We lost power about 10 PM and shortly after had to take shelter until about 2 AM. Tornado sirens everywhere. Of course nothing happened. Thank God.
Now it is after noon and I'm sitting here waiting for power to be restored. All I have is my phone. When that dies I'm out of luck because everyone I know lives right down the street so of course they are out of power as well. Nowhere to charge my phone.
What's the point of all this? Well, that goes two ways. The up side is that working from home makes this not a big deal. I don't have to call into work because my power is out. Things will slow down today, but I can pick them back up when the power is turned back on.
The down side, is this shows how spoiled we are now. Myself included. I am going crazy sitting in the dark, nothing to watch, and nothing to do. It is driving me so bonkers that I picked up my phone to write this.
I remember a time when the power went out, you went for a walk, or just went outside to do...something. Now, when power goes out people complain about how long it takes to get the power back up and running. In my area alone they had about 2500 people without power. That is not a quick fix.
Anyway, just thought I would share this with you. Now I'm going to go for a walk and waste some time while I wait for my power to be turned back on.

Well thank goodness nothing happened!
But I know what you mean. I'm sitting here day after day babysitting my grandson. My daughter was afraid I'd get bored. BORED?!! iPhone, iPad, laptop, tv and now a new business I'm to get acquainted with plus I have to do a better job of managing my e-mail, Facebook and Pinterest.
So yes we are spoiled. We have all these ways to stay connected.
Exactly bamannisi. And for most, when we loose those things that keep us connected, we don't know what to do.
