Beware of "adult advertising"

So, yea. Yesterday I placed some ads on my site from a place called Adcash. I've done some research on the network, and they seem to be a legit advertising network, so I was going to give them a try.

Well, when setting up my publishing account, they asked me, "allow adult advertising." I checked it, considering my site is for adults, but in my opinion, in a more mature way, as my site contains no nudity, no pornography, no extremely graphic context/details, etc.

However, we weren't on the same page with the meaning of "adult advertising." I thought it would be advertising adult products, for example: adult toys or adult books/movies.

It did not mean that at all, and it was showing nudity on the ads sometimes, and even sending my viewers off to porn sites.

So if any of you noticed that, cause I did, in fact, already have impressions and clicks on the ads, then forgive me. I know we're all adults here, but I did not want that kind of advertising on my site.

I will give them another try (if I can figure out how to turn off adult advertising now that I've already chosen it), and go from there.

Also, please be patient with me when it comes to the advertising, and point it out to me if you see any graphic things. I will be experimenting with different ad networks, as I need to find an alternative to google adsense. If you have any suggestions.?.? Please comment below.

Just a heads up, don't allow adult advertising if you don't want nudity/porn/graphic context on your site. I flirted with it, knowing it was probably a bad idea, and it was.

You live and you learn. Thank you for your time, and good luck on your journey!!

Thanks for sharing this. Always good to be careful. I am presently exploring ads from AWIN. Looks pretty promising. That is where Ali Express lives. Cheers, Nicole

Yea, no problem.

AWIN huh? I will look into that. Thanks!!

The great thing is you’re learning as you go, as we all do.

I will definitely be more cautious moving forward!!

Hey Brandon. Thanks for the advice! Somewhat "funny" story, thanks for sharing :-) Good that you noticed it soon enough before any damage was done.

If I have learned one thing about how in the US is referred to NSFW content it is to ALWAYS be careful when the word "adult" pops up! My own blog is about toys (as in "toys for kids") and, oh boy, it's not always fun to google for appropriate products in that niche either...

Man, I could not believe what I was seeing on my site.

Even the things that weren't "terrible" ads, would end up leading you somewhere that I felt as if it were a scam, such as adult games and "dating" websites I've never heard of.

Wow! Good catch then! Thanks for sharing that with the community! Very helpful!
