Overused Words in Marketing: And It's All on Autopilot!

The word autopilot is a signal that the product you're looking at is more hype than help.
Let's talk about why...
1. The appeal is, this won't be much work, but we know that anything worthwhile that really expands our influence or earns an actual income requires work! That's not to say we can't generate passive income, but even passive income requires us to intentionally engage in the work of setting things up.
2. It suggests automatic income. If I just buy this thing and turn it on, I'll make money! And of course, no one else has ever discovered that this exists. Otherwise, the internet would have made everyone rich by now.
3. It implies, no human interaction necessary. Set it and forget it. Turn it on and walk away. It's a kind of automation that requires no real relationship between seller and buyer, and at the end of the day, that's not only bad for business, it's bad for culture.
There is no true autopilot online income system. They will (and should) cost you something in terms of time and effort.
And at the end of the day, that's what makes this all worthwhile. It isn't the money. It's having created something valuable and pouring your passion and energy into it.
I'm quite thankful that Wealthy Affiliate never promises to bring an autopilot income to its users. This is a place to learn, to work, and to network.
And that's a far better combination anyway.

If it's such a golden opportunity why would they be pitching it. It would seem that they would hide the fact and collect all the golden eggs themselves. If it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't!! WA is the real deal!!! Thanks for the message Brandon.

Thanks for sharing Brandon. I think there is 1 audience this word does not attract. If you suffer from aviophobia. It is claimed that about 20% of people suffer from this in some kind of form. Others claim it can be as high as 40 to 50%. Moral of the story is: Don't use the word for marketing purposes LOL.
Learning is work; building a site is work; earning is actually work.
I wish there was a sign somewhere that says: Get in this line and never have to work again! that would give me a line of people to laugh at, so that would be kinda fun!

Auto pilot income offers really have another name ... SCAM. I'm not even sure Affiliate Marketing can be called "Passive Income". It certainly is not in the eyes of the IRS.
Sure the goal is to create and develop a website that gets a steady and growing stream of traffic. There is a ton of learning and doing to get to this point, and WA is the absolute best resource for helping us do that.
But once achieve, a certain amount of "maintenance" will still be needed to maintain the SERPS producing the steady and growing stream of traffic.
So maybe Affiliate Marketing is better describe as a process that leads to "cruise control" income. On going personal intervention and monitoring will still be needed, but requires much less work than that required during the site development stage.
