Pickin' up nails
I haven't gotten to do a whole lot yet except connect with some genuine, cool people, soak up info from posts and take in some training. I this week paid for a year of premium just to remind myself I was in it for the long haul. Realistically, I must get through a writing project with tight deadlines before I can really dig in.
I appreciate how this community unselfishly helps one another - that is unique and I plan to do the same when I have some expertise and experience to speak from. The thought of what I see going on here every day made me think of my jogging around the neighborhood for the last few years. What?
Yeah, I use the time to think, pray and work through creative ideas for my lessons that I write. I get my best ideas this way. A few years back, my subdivision reached the age, and because of recent wind storms, that many began replacing their roofs. As I ran I would see nail after nail around the curb area. I would begin to pick them up and throw them away when I got home. Over the years I have picked up literally hundreds. I stopped counting at 600 two years ago. Who knows how many flat tires were avoided. I'd like to think several - heck, maybe even my own. I still pick them up to this day.
So what's my point? I do it to help people, I don't expect recognition, I just do it, knowing how frustrating and expensive it can be to walk out in the morning and see a flat tire. What everyone does here is similar - we help people avoid the flat tire that stops you in your tracks - the pitfalls, obstacles, and hazards by sharing helpful hints, experience and expertise. We clear the road so to speak and save others time, frustration, and money - maybe even keep them from giving up along their journey. Thanks to everyone - you are all awesome.
