When I go to the Customize section of my theme in WordPress, I continually run into the following:

There are free WordPress themes, and there are WordPress themes that are paid, that have free versions... It's difficult to know the difference... It's not like the app store where you know it's a Freemium app, but you can still use the app for most of the features...
I'm not sure what features you want, but you can do a lot without going premium...

No, you don’t have to, that’s if you’re satisfied with the free features. If not, then you may consider upgrading to Premium.
