It's a Mainstream World! Do I Belong?

I earlier today was at a certain bus station awaiting someone special to me. I couldn't help but look around and see the many people, scores of people, actually, around me as they were going about their various businesses. I couldn't help but ask myself whether I fitted in. Or not.

Do I fit in?

I looked at one bus full of a prestigious company's staff as they were being ferried home and thought- should I have got a job with them (I had so much desired that about 10 years ago), wouldn't I be in that bus.

I work for a different company. A good one too. So the point is not this or that employer. It's about the masses' school of thought. Mainstream opinion.

How Life Goes:

Go to school, work hard, pass your exams, look hard for a job in the corporate world. Work hard. Again. Start paying- more like accumulating- debt. Be under pressure to perform at work- targets, and all. On and on... On and on until when?

Until the sack, or more politely, the lay off, or retirement if one is still alive.

Bottom Line: Work Must Be Done

So you must do some work, anyway. Hard. For instance, looking for a job was not easy at all. And now meeting targets is not easy. Working to pay debt is not easy, too.

Why should I, then, not leave the corporate world and apply the same time, effort, ideas, energy, in my own online business? If it's a job I want- wouldn't that be one? If it's meeting targets I like, wouldn't I set my own? If it's freedom to be with my family I desired, would that now not be in my hands?

New Line of Thought

I must no longer flow with the masses. I think I don't belong.

Treasures of clean, clear waters are upstream. Not down the river. You see far ahead and understand danger better when you climb up to the top of a tree in the dark forest. Not when crouching under its shadow.

Authority is at the top of the hill, where one understands their territory and dominion better. Not at the bottom of the valley. I'll go for it!

Boniface, everything in life that's worth having requires work. We can also work smarter, not just harder. You're doing the right thing at the right place. Don't worry about the crowd. You're not them - you're you!
