Overcoming Self Imposed Barriers
"This time is going to be different!" How many times have I heard myself say that? Thousands? Millions? What is REALLY going to make the difference? ( this time )
Lets begin at the beginning. What causes my own barriers? Whether its procrastination, lack of perseverence, or just plain laziness - they're all self imposed "barriers". By that I mean, I do it to myself by believing my old 'stories' and re-running all the old mental videos of the past. In other words - my past has a way of limiting my present .
The good news is - I can change. I can begin a new 'history' right now - this very minute - just by saying 'YES' to what I know I want for myself and others. Things like financial peace of mind, security for my family, the financial ability to help others. All good and valid desires. So how do I change myself?
For me, its being 'present' in the moment and saying "Shut-Up!" to my 'monkey mind' that keeps telling me 'I can't do it' or 'I never did it in the past so why should it be different now?'. Then I connect with my divine Self (through meditation) and ask the question: "What is the right action here?". Then I listen for the answer - (it usually comes in a 'gut feeling' or an 'intuitive' thought) - and then taking the right action. This is the key for me.
I can spend time thinking and fantasizing how it would be to have all these worthy desires, but until I take Action, its just that - spending (wasting?) time.
Here is where W A comes in. This community is giving me the opportunity to take action on my own behalf and hopefully help others to do the same. So go now and write your own blog about what action you are taking today to be the success you already are in your mind. Just Do It - it'll make you feel better and you'll take one more step on your journey through this blessing called Life! Success is a journey - not the destination.

Hi Donald - Thanks for the comment. You are so right - we do it to ourselves because we're human and make mistakes (Like believing everything we think!) If we can align with the divine and learn to forgive (ourselves included) we will have Peace. I see you're a musicinan - Someday I will write a blog about the difference between performance and ministry when it comes to music.
That is a very good point well taken my friend. Besides people telling us what we can do, with all due respect, we do it to ourselves! I can testify to that. I love your blog, because as much as we don't want to admit it, that is a part of so many of us! Good luck on your success!

When we look back on our achievements, we see that it evolved one step at a time - like learning the drums - just like a journey of a thousand miles. You are probably learning new things about drumming all the time, so your journey is still happening. Flam-a-diddle on brother!
