Top ways to tell if something is a scam
Top 5 Ways to tell if the product/ service is a SCAM
1) Promises, promises,promises.. that sound too good to be true!
Let me give you an example from my personal experience. The tagline of the program that was at first free to attend was: “On a mission to create 100 millionaires in a year”. Sounds very alluring and promising doesn't it? Just like the presidential campaigns, promises can work wonders into luring in masses to believe that there is hope and that the leader/ guru wants to actually help them change or achieve new success. Unfortunately if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Some other online scams will be telling you that they can teach you to make 100,000 USD in a week and all sorts of silly numbers just to make you dream. Be extremely aware of this ' empty' promises and listen to your gut. If you are suspicious( as one should be with large promises) then don't buy into it.
2) Video only “ Squeeze page” or landing page
When you check the website, and you only find a long video appearing as soon as you are on their main page this shall be a warning for a possible scam. The video will usually start with the so called ‘guru’ or online marketing expert trying to immediately convince you to join the program and follow their “get rich quick scheme”. There will also be a sense of urgency/missing out if you don’t join or limited time to join as they will want to get you into their sales funnel as soon as possible. Even better before you had the chance to perform your due diligence. My advice is, close the site and move on!
3) Never ending Up-sells
The first thing that would be offered here is a so called Tripwire product. This is a very inexpensive or in some cases FREE offer that as well serves as a bait to get your email and details so you can be bombarded with dozens of upselling offers after you sign up. It can be packaged as a downloadable report, guide on how to ( Make money, lose weight etc), free webinar etc. I do not insist that all of the tripwire products will lead to massive upsells but there is a big chance that they will and especially if this OFFER is being presented on a video only page as I mentioned above. The good thing is that even if you sign up you will be able to opt out of their emails before they upsell you into a higher tier service/ product.
4) Insane claims about quick success
This part is similar to the promises I talked about. The scammy websites will tell you that you can make 10,000’s of dollars in just one week by signing into their secret formula for success. They will try to convince you that it’s wiser to buy yourself into successful system ( the ones they owe or promote) than to try and do it yourself. Don’t fall into this trap. Every successful business takes time to build so it’s no different with online businesses.
5) Fake flashy pictures or videos
Many of the scam websites will use flashy photos usually taken in a glamorous mansion whilst showing the owner ( guru ) in front of his Ferrari or some other ultra luxury sport car. If you encounter this you can rest assured it’s a part of their fake promises scam. Self respecting companies who add value to their customers do not need to showcase lavish photos on their site. If you encounter a case like this, please avoid getting involved!

“On a mission to create 100 millionaires in a year,” haha, yeah I know the site you mean. On a mission to make himself a millionaire :) And he doesn't care how many casualties he's gotta create to get there...
You def dodged a bullet there, Bojana,
I certainly did. They will say pretty much anything to lure people in, and I agree with you, they don't care how this will affect the people they rip off. Just bad business!

It is a great article to highlight and affirm the things most people don't like. I find point #3 - "up-sells" to be an immediate turn-off. There is no doubt the up-sells may be useful, but to be bombarded by 4-5 up-sells immediately after taking the initial plunge is by far, the greatest let-down for me.
Thanks for the share.
Most welcome! Glad you found this article useful..
