Do You Wanna E.A.T?

It's the new year everyone and google has rolled out one of their big algorithm updates.

Namely, January 2020 Broadcore Algorithm update. You may or may not know that google puts out hundreds even thousands of updates a year. But this one is different.

This Google Algorithm is one of the big ones, you know this to be true because they did something they've never done before. They are digging into the "who" is writing the content.

Back in June of last year they also did a new thing, they pre-announced the update on twitter. This year also no different. They have also gone ahead and pre-announced their January update on their twitter handle: @searchliaison (Google SearchLiaison).

So What? What Does This Mean?

I wanted to keep this short so I'll get to the point.

This means that google is seriously enforcing E.A.T. Expertise, Authority, Trustworthiness.

Google wants to know who is writing the content, who is uploading the content and all around who is creating the content.

That means having a social media presence, IE Linkedin. By the way I had one for years but didn't really jump into it but after an update like this I believe it's imperative.

So writing content anonymously is going to be more than frowned upon. It will be shamed by Google.

Also, any pen-names you might use, probably should also have a Linkedin, Facebook, and Twitter profile, maybe even a YouTube channel. Just to be sure!

Your Rankings, Content, Content, and Great Content!!!

Out of the horses mouth, Google said themselves: "the only way to recover from the impact of a Broad Core Algorithm update is by building great content."

In my honest opinion I think the keywords here are: "building great content."

Since Google has a "User First" mentality, I think it's safe to say they referring to E.A.T. And with this update they are really putting emphasis on the "T"

Trustworthiness, is also "who" is writing the content. For example, do they have a social profile, do they have presence on twitter etc. Further, that ties into the "A"

Authority, this makes sense because having authority means you're more trustworthy. For example if you have authority on YouTube then your content will rank better all around. And lastly this ties into "E"

Expertise, if you know what you're talking about then 'who' you are should reflect in your content. For example, your content is great if you're an expert at it.

In Closing

Make your presence known to search engines like Google.

Follow E.A.T. you can't go wrong.

Spread you reach further by doing YouTube videos, or posting on social networks. All of them if you can.

More and more searches are done with mobile and voice search (the user) so keep this mind when curating your content.
