"Running" A Business: What Type Are You?

When it comes to running, you can be a sprinter or a marathon runner.
A sprinter's goal is to run as fast as possible over a short distance. They train for speed, not endurance.
Conversely, a marathon runner is more interested in running as far as possible. They train for greater endurance, not speed.
I recently realized a similarity between these two types of runners and creating and maintaining an online business.
Many of us have been conditioned to be sprinters. We are used to getting to our goal as quickly as possible. We want results fast and we don't have the endurance (patience) to keep pushing ourselves toward the goal. It seems to far away and we quit.
To reach our goals in online business, or any business for that matter, we need to recondition ourselves to be marathon runners. We need to train ourselves to have the endurance and perseverance to reach our goals.
What do you think? Is this an accurate analogy? Where in the marathon are you right now?

There is a medium Brian. Run enough sprints and be a Jack of All Trades and a lot of folks are satisfied that way!
Hi Brian,
I think this is an accurate analogy. I had to recondition myself to be a marathon runner and now I'm starting over with a new niche and a new website. Hopefully this time around I'll fare better!
What about you, where are you in the marathon?
Cheers, Alma
Hi, Alma
I'm still in the conditioning phase. I'm in the process of making the transition from sprinter to marathon runner :)
When I first started, even though I know it will take time, I still got frustrated when I realized this will take many months of work with no results to show for it.
I'm getting better at keeping a positive attitude and listening to those that have kept at it and pushed through and are getting traffic, engagement, and sales.
It's still hard on some days though because I haven't actually pushed my way through yet. But I really believe as long as I keep "running" and don't quit, I will get there.
All the best to you
-Brian

The marathon is not easy, but I would have no chance as a sprinter.
