From heaven to hell....

Well, I was SOOO happy with my new site.. everything looked pretty and just the way I wanted it to! - then I got some advice, to put a "www" in my URL under general settings in wordpress... I did... and now my site won't load... and more than that, my WP-admin page won't load! - so now I am without a website, and without a chance to get in to the admin section...

Please please PLEASE be aware, when you change something, that it isn't something as crucial as this! - I just hope that support will help me, as the "how to fix a broken URL" video is too complicated for me...

Don't make my mistake! :-)

So glad you got everything back on track. Hey look at it this way, you scared yourself so bad you know that's one error you'll NEVER make again. :)

I KNOW!!! - I'll be carefull to check, before I do anything in general settings ever again! :-D

I´m glad that you solved your problem. We make mistakes and that is normally, but we also learn from mistakes and make them newer again

That is so true! - I learned that you can break it very easy... so I'm careful now! :-D

Aw, fantastic, I'm glad Hosting Support were able to sort this out for you. It's important to ensure that you definitely "know what you're doing" in areas like this, regardless of whatever advice you've received. Craig (@welshy) has created brilliant training on addressing this issue https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-fix-wordpress-address-url-if-changed but it's not a "quick" fix and it cannot be used to repair siterubix subdomain sites as there's no FTP access. Starter Members don't have access to Hosting Support, it's a Premium-only feature, so their only option is often to delete their entire site and start over. It's why a daily backup and a manual one before making any changes by following training such as https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-backup-entire-wordpress-blog-have-it-auto-sent-to-a-free-dropbox-account is absolutely essential. :) Rich.

It is so great!!! - I learned a lesson... from now on, I ask in the forums before I do anything that might seem tricky! - thank you for your support, Rich! - great knowing that you were there! :-D

You make a very serious and important point. I would stress that no-one should ever rely on a quick answer in chat for something as complex as this, you should always first use the search bar to see if anything has been said about the subject before and then open a "Discussion" to get the widest possible chance of considered responses. It's incredibly easy, even for the experts to misthink or mistype an answer or fail to caveat any conditions in an often noisy chatstream that if implemented might have drastic and unforeseen consequences to another Member's business. :) Rich.

Support fixed my problem! - I love them!!!!!

Awesome. Now get to work! LOL

You bettcha!!! - my site is so cool... would have been desaster, if it was gone!!! :-D

Hi,

I am sorry that you are having this kind of trouble. I saw you in Live Chat discussing it with Rich (@RICH.) He is a good authority here on WA. What he told you was good advice to double and even triple check whenever someone advises you - although you can pretty much trust whatever Rich says :)

Hang in there! They'll get this resolved somehow. And thanks for posting for others to take heed.

Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim! - I just hope they have the backup, and can rewind time by some hours! - It will be such a bummer, if I have to do it all over again! - thanks for your support! and I agree, Rich is a great guy!
