Licensing a Product?
Hi fellow WA members!
I am just curious if anyone of you here had an experience with product licensing?
I have tried research on how I can make and get my idea into the market (healthcare related tool) but I got so dismayed of how this lawyers, company, etc... asked you HUGE amount of dollars up front. Scammers! Scammers! Scammers!!
Do you know of any legitimate company to look into?
I want my idea to be licensed only. I am not interested of going to produce or invest this idea into a physical product myself. I want others to produce it with my product licensing agreement.
Thank you in advance.

I thought if you had a product you came up with you need to have a patent for it, perhaps it depends on which country
I read his book one simple idea, you should check it out if you are actually interested, its all about licensing products.
Yes that is the title. He has multiple books, but that is the one I have read and its good.
I am pretty sure you'd need to patent it, because there is no protection for you from copy-cat products being made. I don't know that you can license an idea successfully without the product or a patent.
Lori Greiner of Shark Tank has lots and lots of experience with new products. Her website www.lorigreiner.com may have some helpful advice or a way to contact her with your idea and how you might be able to license it.
Good luck! - Lori
Thank you, Lori.
Patenting is another drain of funds. Can't afford it :(
Thanks for sharing me this website. I will look into it.

No, not yet. I have no experience with product licensing yet.
However...

Hi, thank you!
Hmmm...US patent office, hiring a lawyer, attend international licensing show in new york, hire a licensing firm like Design Plus, networking, etc.. Sounds very tedious! I don't know when or if I want to pursue it.
Thanks for sharing the link.

There are easier methods, to lock in your ownership.
ever heard of the "poor Man's " copyright?
Once you have designed and tested your idea and have a sample in hand, You would Prepare a package of your designs, descriptions and in a secure and strong envelope, or box. then register mail it to your self.
Once it comes to you, DO NOT open the package for any reason.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now go build your stuff.
Anyone challenge you to try to tell you that "you" stole their idea,
That package... the Judge in court will open the package.
It have a date on the postage stamp .
----------------------------
If you live in North America.. this is one way of locking it up.

Also patents are not needed. Unless your idea is so complex, its demands one.
Yeah, I heard that too! I was reading stories of simple women who got their products licensed and they did not have to do anything, and they get like 5% royalties for the sale.
