Volunteering
Today the kiddos and I spent the afternoon volunteering, I feel it is an extremely important thing for not only children but for adults to do.
Volunteering has plenty of positive value, when you volunteer you are helping out someone in need. You get to meet new people, learn new skills, gain an appreciation for what you have, and it feels good to help!
Today we helped my aunt who runs the local mobile market, the mobile market delivers fresh food and produce to those in need. Every day of the week the truck pulls up to a local parking lot, sets up tables and crates of fresh produce. The produce is free, and all that is asked of people visiting the site is that they take only what they need and will consume before it spoils. Today the market helped 165 people in just two of the locations the kids and I helped out at.
I was one proud mom watching my kids out there, my oldest helped set up tables, load and unload crates of food from the truck. While my two girls helped hand out snack pack bags to the elementary school aged children.
I was extremely proud that they not only wanted to help, but were having a great time doing so, they were talking with everyone who came to see them.
Volunteering for this particular project was a near and dear one for me, not only does my aunt do a lot to help the community by working for the market, but I have been on the receiving end of the line. There have been times during and after my divorce that feeding and providing for my children was difficult. I love that I am able to repay the very services that assisted me by helping them provide to others!
It was a great afternoon, one I will cherish in memories for years to come.

When my children were growing up we lived in a very wealthy area. When my youngest was a freshman in high school she went with a church group to Mexico to help build a family a house. It had two windows and was the size of a one car garage, but the family and all the families in the area were very grateful for the help.
It changed her life.
She came to see that helping, not money was what was important to her. '
I am a proud mom.
Most of my adult life has been spent in voluntary work, in fact it's been easier for me to get than the regular kind. Sure, I could do with being paid double for my services - although double zero still equals double zero - but it beats doing nothing at all & gets me out of the house... and being a volunteer radio announcer is something everyone should get to try!
My blog is all about volunteering and related subjects - I may have to ask you for an interview!! Well done and thank you!
As a volunteer of many years appreciate the need to get the younger ones involved. We older ones will need replacing one day if these acts are to continue.
Funny you say that, my Grandparents always said the same thing. I hear this often from the generations before mine, people really do need to step up and help out!

That's wonderful Brianne! You should be very proud of your kids as well as yourself. I also enjoy volunteering when I can. I deliver Meals on Wheels every Thursday and help out at Salvation Army on Tuesdays. I enjoy being able to help people. I agree with Diane, you have a beautiful soul.
Best wishes,
Susie
Thank you that is very kind!
I must say thank you for doing the volunteer work you do! My grandparents were blessed to have meals on wheels in times of need!
