Do you post about subjects that have nothing to do with your niche? Also I have more than one niche. Do I set up an account for each of them or can I 'cross promote?'

Hi there. Personally I would not post about anything that is not to do with my niche. That looks messy and takes the focus away. It is not advised in general I believe.

Why would you be thinking of doing that? If you find yourself regularly wondering off topic I would advise starting a blog of your musings, - which is just a blog, nothing else, and that doesn't monetise. If you got a lot of hits you could utilise it then to direct people to your actual business site?

If you have more than one nice which are not related to each other in any way then you need separate websites for them. Remember we make our money by helping people who are looking for niche-specific information, making that info available to them in the neatest and most user-friendly way. So it's important to make sure your site achieves that, otherwise they will be confused, un-helped and will bounce.

In case this helps anyone else, I came across a video from a respected internet marketing guru the other day, who said that you get around 3 seconds of a visitor to your site deciding whether to stay and read, or bounce. 3 seconds, that's it!
So you need to ask yourself the same 3 questions a site user asks themselves, and make sure this info is right there with no searching:

1) What is it?
2) What is it about?
3)What do I get?

Try it yourself. Every website you visit, - ask yourself those 3 questions really fast, if you haven't got the answers immediately, you will find you'll bounce. Remember the ''what is it about"? shouldn't be about ''you'' but about the customer, product or service you're offering.

I hope this helps.

Very helpful thanks. I know I have to have different websites for my niches but its a lot to have different FB and Twitter accounts for each niche. I guess I just have to keep them organised.
