Jitters
So I just went Premium. Yay!
Getting to that decision I had to overcome a lot of hurdles. Like many of the people I have seen post here, I am in a difficult financial situation and am looking for a way to take control of the situation. The advertising for WA through various blogs offers a big promise. One of ownership of one's own life and finances. It promises the American Dream of financial freedom through hard work, creativity, and community. And so far, everything from the training to the members to the website have all been top notch across my first week here.
Now I know you felt a "But" coming after that last sentence. And you'd be right.
But, it is fifty clams a month with no real guarantee of success. And if you have never done a thing as intensive as running your own business getting involved in a pyramid scheme or any kind of scam is a bug that's hard to squash. It's easy to remember having your identity stolen, or getting fleeced on a deal that looked sweet but tasted sour. Simply put, plenty of people know how to put lipstick on a pig.
Yesterday I had shift working a conference. I help run audiovisual equipment. I looked around at the serving staff and my colleagues and compared them to the people attending the conference. The numbers the people typically throw around in some of these conferences range from the millions to the billions. The government ones talk about trillions the way I would talk about a good hamburger. They attend conferences. They have articles and pictures published in magazines. Who cares that no one reads magazines anymore, right! lol. So I am watching this great divide of people who are living paycheck to paycheck like me and those who found a way to spend the same hours of the day I do sitting at an audio mixer, but doing so on a stage or in an audience of people swimming in a sea of money.
So I took the plunge a few minutes ago to take ownership of something and build it into something. Hopefully, it is the right decision. I am still confident in my writing one day making me as rich and famous as Stephen King, but the experience I think I can get building and running a business is a skill I could also pass along to others.
And there you have it. I'm pretty sure we all face fears and are experiencing our own set of challenges. Welcome to the tribe, if you are new here. Win, lose, or draw its a decision sure to challenge and change your life in some ways. I'll do my best to make that change as positive as possible.
All best,
Ced

Well said Ced. Jumping into a business is an inherit risk. It's like a relationship. You'll either succeed or fail. And that's why most people are employees. But the folks that can push pass fear are the ones that can win big. It may take a lot of failures before they do. But you can't win the game unless you're in it and keep playing. As long as you don't give up on yourself and fight until you do win, eventually you will. You have a winning team behind you so they helps.
Thanks for sharing, Ced.
