Hi all,

I am new to Affiliate Marketing. I am a passionate fiction writer. Which also dovetails nicely with the whole "starving artist" motif I am experiencing while in between jobs at the moment. I live in Brooklyn. It's an amazing, if expensive, place to live, work and raise a child. My hobbies include digital photography, cycling, and geeking out over superhero stuff and innovations in science. I hope to create several websites. One my son and I can enjoy sharing our local adventures and things he likes. And another few sites about Brooklyn venues and people. Before I can get to that level I hope to learn from the majority of you who have found a great work-life balance by working online.
That's pretty much me.

Hi Melani!
Yep. I have authored two books of supernatural fiction. Everything from werewolves to demons in an ongoing adventure series. It's centered around an immortal, a werewolf, and a bounty hunter in a collection of interconnected short stories that tie together over time.
One of the websites I am thinking about will feature my books and I can blog about the writing process. I'm still researching the affiliate marketplace for that. I'd like to work on a webpage for my books asap, but if it doesn't look lucrative I can go with another idea.
Thanks for the good wishes. This is an encouraging place.
All best,
Ced

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Hey Eddy,

I am looking at STEM and STREAM for kids my son's age as a niche for one website. I am going to be researching toys for Christmas soon so I could at least compile a few lists along the way. Not certain if I can get any product reviews done, but I can discuss how he has interacted with toys in the past and their impact. I know how much research I put into it over the last few years so I can see that market and apply WA lessons along the way.

Creating a second website to promote my ebooks seems a little different. I write supernatural and sci-fi shorts and have two books out. I think I can blog and review writing tools I use and discuss topics like writer's block and elements of story structure. That feels like it might take a bit more to get right but I want to at least get it up and running and take my lumps along the way.

Building an audience feels more daunting for my ebooks but that is likely just jitters.

Plugging away!

Hey Ced,

I'm not familiar with your niche, but if you feel it meets what I laid out here: Then run with it. But I would focus on one website first. You need to be able to add new content consistently and this may be hard to do with two new sites, especially for someone that is new to this business.

You can look into a second site once you've actually mastered one in terms of getting traffic and making some money consistently.

Don't spread yourself thin. There will be a lot of mistakes and lessons you'll learn with your first site that you can improve on with your other sites.

I liked the Cheat Sheet. STEM and STREAM are acronyms for science-based learning tools and toys for kids. There are science clubs, videos, and a fairly sizable market for toy shoppers around the holiday season.
While I might not make any money I feel it will give me an idea of how often and how much I can get out there. I will be using some of the items with my son at some point so I don't think I will get bored researching innovations.

In addition to this course, I am also writing two novels and an ongoing series of short stories, working in the CIty and growing as a dad. I've got more stretch in me than Plastic Man. lol

Ok, fair enough. As long as you read my cheat sheet and niche article and feel like this is a niche that is sustainable year around and you won't get tired or writing about it, then go for it.

Hey Ced ,

I just wanted to follow up and see if you need anything. I see you've already taken action and completed your account profile! That's wonderful! It just goes to show you're able to follow directions and are serious about making this business work! Trust me when I say that's half the battle to success online! So you're part of a rare breed! However I see you haven't upgraded to the premium membership.

If it's because money is tight, I can hook you up. Read the following as you'll learn how others have been able to easily pay for this membership: http://bit.ly/afford_wa

At the end of the day you're obviously an action taker unlike a lot of people that may join this community and fail to do anything. As such you should be rewarded for that. So I wanted to give you a special bonus if you're thinking of becoming a premium member.

HOW TO CLAIM YOUR BONUS
-----------------------------------------------

If you join Premium within the next 4 days, here are some bonuses that I am going to be giving you:

(1) You are going to get a 59% DISCOUNT on your first month Premium membership (only $19)

(2) You are going to get personal and private access to me! If you ever have a question or need help with your campaigns, I will be there and even the owners of WA (Kyle & Carson) will be able to offer you personal mentoring.

(3) I am going to be giving a special "Diamond Traffic Bonus"

But only if you join in the next 4 days!

You're obviously not required to take advantage of this great offer. But the starter membership can only take you so far. It's clear as day you want to succeed. Otherwise you wouldn't have completed your profile. So I'd like to hook you up with the bonus above!

There is so much more in the way of videos, courses, live chat and private message capabilities that will help you get to the next level quicker. So keep that in mind. In fact, just check out the differences between the starter and premium membership here: I think it will help you see all that you'll get if you take advantage of the bonus and discount I'm offering you. In any event, great job again for taking action and completing your profile!

Keep taking action because every time you do it brings you closer to your success!

Take care,

Eddy with a Y

Hey Eddy,

Hope all is well. Always appreciate you guys reaching out.

I am still working out my finances but will likely take the premium membership once my website is up and running. I just need to see more or less what my business will cost to operate monthly and add in the cost of premium membership to that. That would help me determine what to slice off.
I joined EasyShift recently but haven't tested it out. That looks like a legitimate source of pocket change but there is a downside to it according to their forums.
The courses have been informative so far. I plan to write a sample blog today. Is it allowed to post that kind of thing in our blog section? I'll add a header or something that reads "Sample". It would be helpful to know if the community gives comments on website design and test blogs, that sort of stuff.

Thanks again for the info!

You're welcome Ced.

Running your online business will pretty much be the cost of your premium membership and the yearly cost of a domain. Other than that WA pretty much includes all you need in that membership cost to make this work. The only other optional cost would be if you decided to pay for advertising or collecting emails. But that's not required.

Either way, you do whatever you feel works for your finances and long term success.

I'm not sure what you mean by a sample blog. If you create your own website then yes you can write whatever type of posts you want on your blog.

If you want to write a blog posts using the WA blog system which is internal blogs members can write that other members see, then you can do that it as well. Sometimes people use that internal WA blog as practice to feel more comfortable writing.

But at the end of the day, your first couple of blogs won't be perfect. And that's fine. You'll get better as you write more and go through the training. So don't worry about being perfect.

Hi Eddy,

That answered my question about the blogs. I feel like I might want to practice a few first and was hoping there was a way to get feedback here when I get one or two going.

Thanks for getting back so quickly.

All best,
Ced

Hey Ced,

No problem. I'm not sure if you have gone through all the training yet. But you should. Because there is a section that discusses how to get site feedback and comments. So be sure you follow the training so you don't miss things like that.

I'm on task 8/32 from the first bit. I narrowed down a niche for myself and my son that I need to dig around and find the audience for. Right now I'm rewatching Kyle's video on finding a niche so I can copy some of the examples and start the research.
I told my son I would have a web page for him in two weeks or so so I am like the fuse in the old MI series. Not cramming. Just keeping active and motivated.

Hey Ced!

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate my friend! Just in case you forgot, I am Eddy with a y. LOL We met back on my blog: http://www.WorkAtHomeNoScams.com. I'm happy my babbling didn't scare you away and you had enough trust in me to give WA a shot!

Trust me when I say you made the right decision and you're going to love this community! You're on your way to building a long term online business like yours truly did because of the training and support here at WA!

That said, let's get you started on the right note so you can get the most out of your time here. As a new member, the first thing you should do is fill out your account profile. Don't even trip, it's really easy to do. All it consists of is the following simple steps:

(1) Add your profile image
(Can be anything you want. Just don't make it dirty. lol)

(2) Add a personal description.
(Let us know about yourself and why you're here at WA!)

That's it!

If you do these simple steps it will really show you're serious about learning how to succeed at this business and people will be more likely to answer your questions and help you if they see you've taken the two minutes to complete your profile. If you need help on doing this, watch the following video: Next you should definitely check out the "Get Started Here" training. This is going to get you up and running with your own website very quickly and has a lot of really easy to follow video training that is going to help this whole "process" make sense.

Here is a direct link to this training: If at any time you need help, just ask. There are a ton of good folks here within the community that will be more than happy to help you out and within the first 7 days of your Starter membership you are going to have access to Live Chat, so make sure you check that out. Just remember people are more inclined to help you if you've completed your account profile as described above.

Anyways, I thought I would personally welcome you. As you can see I don't just promote WA, I'm actually here as a member waiting to help you! So reach out to me. Start by filling out your profile. Don't be shy. I won't bite.

I look forward to reading your profile and hearing from you. So go fill that out now. I really want to know more about you so I can help you achieve your goals!

Speak to you soon Ced!

Your buddy,
Eddy with a Y. (Get it right. LOL)

P.S. If you have any doubts that this business is real or if it will work for you, check this little article out: When you see what companies are already involved in this business, it's going to be eye opening!

Hey Eddy with a Y!

I actually wanted to thank you. Your blog didn't sound like a pitch the way most of the others I checked out seemed. I'm hopeful that this is the right spot for me. I have wanted to increase my online presence for a number of years but haven't mastered the whole website and marketing thing in conjunction with my book writing and raising my son, who turned eight a few months back.
I want to show him how to make money online so he can start having a passive income while he is small and understand business better and ethically. For myself, I have written two books of supernatural fiction as part of an ongoing series of interconnected short stories. Marketing online is a nightmare while also trying to write and work full time. So I'd like more income while I am at home to also dedicate time to write more and improve on my photography and filmmaking.
Through some combination, I would like to bring in at least six grand a month at some point. I understand it is a marathon but that is my focus.
Have to do some daddy duties at the moment.
Thanks for reaching out.
Definitely will be in touch.

Hey Ced,

You're very welcome. I'm happy you liked the way I presented WA. I always just want to give people options I know are legitimate and have worked for me. Then it's up to them to decide if they want to try. So clearly you did and hopefully you'll see the value I've seen here for over a decade.

I love that you want to show your son there are other ways to make money. It's something I try to instill in my kids as well. It's important for them to see that their parents have multiple streams of incomes doing different things, especially one that eventually becomes almost passive income.

I'm excited for you. Be sure to go through the training like I suggested to get an understanding of what you'll need to do to succeed in this business. The training will be your blueprint as well as the other members like myself.
