From page 1 to page 6. What does google want???????

In the beginning,100 days ago, my ranking as #2 on page 1 of google was a great feeling.

My niche was a review of our small town restaurants called PAHRUMP,NEVADA RESTAURANT REVIEWS. I only had 3 fast food reviews on there and I am ranked #2. Wow I thought.

Now, 3 months later, after writing 17 more reviews, I am on page 6. Who is going to find me there?

So my question is "What do the google spider crawlers want? How do I fix it?

Any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks in advance. bingopauls vegas

The new Google Panda update may be affecting everyone. I am also a bit nervous because I am noticing a drop in my normal traffic this week. I am also asking myself the same question because I truly believe I have provided a lot of great quality content and certainly a lot more free content and posts with no affiliate links than with them. I am keeping a close eye, but this is definitely a week to work even harder than usual. Good luck, my friend!

I've experienced this, it's the Google dance. Don't worry too much about. Just keep producing quality content and you will move up again. All the best!

Hey Evelyn. did you fix that problem that you had with your website? Sorry I could not help but I saw others to the rescue

Hey Rosalyn, yes I did from Erika. Thanks for your concern that's so sweet of you. :) All the best!

when we are new our rankings seem to do better then it settles so thats why we need to keep creating content and getting the keywords right, you will get there

I wrote a blog on stale websites, so I started adding more reviews and I continue to drop. Go figure

I remember seeing a post from another member saying that google had changed something which caused an upset for my ratings dropped a bit now they are coming back, give it a few more days and see if it picks up

I will write another review or two today and check tommorrow. We all know that if you are not on page one you are wasting your time creating. AHHh, but the learning never stops. Does It?

this is beginning to sound like a regular relationship with a human, except we can't divorce google!

Hi Moz,

Lol. Love it and i think you are right in the money!

I am in the process of rewriting or jibbing posts based solely on their human conversation score.

Why?

Because....

1/ Google is onto us humans and the way we talk, think and interact.
2/ Google wants to help us find meaningful and easily accessible information.
3/ Google wants us to produce meaningful and easily accessible information.
4/ Google wants to earn advertising revenue to meet shareholder wants and needs. It will do this by ranking the type of information we are searching for and then by placing paid for adverts on search result pages and ad sense.

Nb points 2 & 3 using the repeated phrase "meaningful and easily accessible information" to drive home the main thrust of this post.

So, I for one, am focusing on producing the best quality info I can, using my natural style of writing and talking. Some people will totally get my style and join my 'virtual tribe' with shared values and language and this will be niche marketing at its best.

Matching like minded people with like minded products using like minded communication.

Goggle rocks ;-)

Phil

lol we cant but you can flirt with bing

Hi bingopaul,

Even when you do everything Google tells you it still is hit and miss.

A couple of things that work for me;
Have a related blogger.com account pointing at your site.
Upload videos to YouTube and link to your site
Have a Google + account for your website
Always, always go for low competition keywords
Try to put interactive components on your pages eg quizzes, surveys
Link out to other authority related websites
Make sure content is 100% unique
Use graphics with alt text descriptions

I think Google is trying to squeeze out newish websites and trying to get them to prove themselves over a period of time.

Think of Google as a web searchers advocate and guide. They are trying to provide the searcher with the best, and safest, web journey.

Hope this helps at least a bit

Phil

Real good stuf, you shoul write a blog here on WA about that Phil!

I do 6 out the 8 you mention. No links to you tube yet.

Great info sharing. Thank you!

Some things that Google likes to see is more than 400 content on each page, some italics and highlighted words. Those are just a few I have heard about.
Also, are you getting indexed by Google crawler bots?

I just found this article that has a tool to test your site and help give you answers for this. I have not used it, but I am sure anything is worth a try. http://www.feedthebot.com/spiderview.html

Kim :))

More good info for everyone. Thanks!

I agree that it's totally unpredictable, Paul. Some days, I don't even want to look. I feel your pain!

Its known as the Google dance just keep going keep adding content it will come back, the Google algorithm is not going to ever give you certainty
The next point is this panda update just rolled out and lots of sites get hit

Barry

Bingo. I am not sure what they want, but I just started doing the Fetch in webmaster tool that Robert (boomergp08) provided. If you have not already done this for your crawl after posts, it may help. Here is the link. Hope it helps.

Thanks Zora. I will investigate Fetch

How long have you been off page one and do you have a link to the site?

A couple of weeks. What do you mean by link to the site? All my pages, post and sites all link back to WA or my other sites which also link to WA. All related

I was looking for the website you are having issues with ranking on. I would love to take a look at it

Thanks Shawn. http://pahrump.siterubix.com/

I will check out your site and give you some pointers tonight. Thanks for the link

Hey Shawn, just did analysis at feedthebot(see blog)

Great tools to use, follow their recommendations and you should be OK.

When you say links I thought that meant links to WA. But after researching SEO google, They are looking for outside links in your text to validate credibility to what you are saying. I understand a little better now. They want links, I'll give them links. Working on it right now
