Site Ranking drop.

Just a couple weeks ago I blogged about my site going from page one, position #2 behind the leader, Trip Advisor, to page 6 in a short amount of time. It seemed to me that google had lost interest in my site. So I thought my site must have become boring and stale. And I wrote a blog about that. I could not figure out why I had dropped in the rankings so fast. What does google want?

Well, I had a good read today on SEO from numerous sources on the net. And Ive come up with one answer as to what google might NOT want, and penalize you for it.

Ever since I started almost 4 months ago I have been submitting my sites almost every day through Webmaster tools and through settings under sitemapXML, to google bing, and ASR. I think a lot of you might be doing what I do and are doing the same thing.

Today, in my read, a man that claims to be an expert, made a statement that"BY SUBMITTING YOUR SITES ON A DAILY BASIS, GOOGLE CONSIDERS THIS SPAMMING AND PENALIZE YOU FOR IT. ONCE A MONTH IS HIS SUGGESTION."

Now I do not remember in the training, which is correct. I thought you would submit when you make a blog, post, page or anything you add that is a major change in your site. I don't know which one is right, but I do know I had a major drop in google rankings and this may be why.

I wanted too share and get individual results and opinion. After all page one is where we all want to be and strive for.

I learn a lot from my daughter with a website biz and try to follow her advice when I can. She's in her 20's. On my blog, I post every few days if I can. My goal is 10 posts per month. On my Facebook business page, I try to post daily and several times a day if I can, using Facebook to direct people to my blog. Social media seems to like more frequent posts, so if you're not using it yet, maybe that's worth a try?

That is good to know thank you only submit a new one if something goes wrong

I think Jay said again this past Fri that once your sitemap is submitted, your new posts will automatically be crawled. He was suggesting resubmitting after correcting noted errors on your site. There's just so much to learn isn't there???? :-)

There is some training where Kyle says not to worry about your ranking going up and down a few places, it's normal. I have a couple of posts on page 1 but they do go up and down a few places over the week. Jaaxy site ranking tool is a good place to check this. :)

As I understand it (and as has already been said I guess) once you've set the whole process up, you don't need to manually submit your site map to Google if your site hasn't changed. Changes to your site, such as the addition of posts and pages, will ping Google automatically. Pinging Google unnecessarily can have a negative effect.

That is what Im guessing also

I personally never submit my sitemap to Google and find my pages indexed by Google automatically. I think submitting is not important at all. As for rankings, drop is not a big problem. Some pages may drop and some will rise in rankings. If you have one or two pages ranked in Google and you lose that ranking then it is a huge problem BUT if you write content every other day (3 times per week) at least then I don't think you will have any problem because Google will definitely love some of your pages and rank them accordingly. To top it off, write consistently.

Are you submitting the link to your new post or just your main url? Because as long as the url is different I have never had a problem with Google getting mad (at least that I have noticed) I submit my new content links every time I publish them and I have had no problems with my rankings. With that being said, Google is notorious for the Google dance and some of my stuff just went from top to bottom and left to right for a few weeks but they have always settle in a fairly good spot and start to move up.

Wordpress also pings Google to let them know that new content has been published so that technically you really do not need to worry about submitting the new content to webmaster tools. Also if you are publishing on a regular basis the spyders will come by your site more often to get it indexed faster without you submitting it.

The last two weeks I have stopped submitting them because I was out of town but noticed that Google was indexing them within a day or two anyway because I post on a regular basis.

Also by chance have you checked to see in webmaster tools if there are any problems or crawl errors with your site? I know bing webmaster also has SEO recommendations to make sure that you are using alt tags etc. Might be worth seeing if there is anything else going on which could be hurting your ranking besides just the normal fluctuating which is common place for the first few weeks/months.

What do you mean by submitting your site daily?

I submit the URL's on a daily basis under your AIO webmater tools plug in. Might be the wrong thing to do. Will get more answers. Please follow the responses and we might find out which is right.
I know the ASR search engine gives me bonus point for submitting daily.

I'm really new at this so I'm trying to learn as much as possible. What is the AIO webmasters tools plug in and where do I find it? is it within WordPress?

Hi Jones. Im new to, at 4 months and we are both learning. In your case stay with the lessons one at a time and they come to the one about which plug ins are really mandatory to have and That is one on the list. There are others. All free with your Premium membership.
Type in your question above and find the best answer to your questions. Sometimes WA members guess instead of knowing.
There are 30,000 plug ins in your dashboard

Thanks

I've got the same drama going on. Today page one, position two. Tomorrow last entry page six. Google is all over the map. The only search engine where my position is more stable is Bing. There my site is on page one, the position does change up and down but within page one.
A new sitemap I only submit when there is significant change on my page, for instance a deleted page. Other than that I let the bots do their work as specified in sitemap settings.
Cheers:-)

Thanks for sharing this.
