Quietly

A short sharp cry, maybe of surprise maybe a protest,

Ululations of a happy mother, Baby is out into the world.

A life begins, a masculine course so tough,

And baby looks back at it all, wishing he had just come out quietly.

A gentle correction here, A knuckle cracked sharply there,

World full of lessons, and many a pitfalls.

Growing up a harsh school with many harsh tutors,

And boy looks back at it all, wishing he could just be left to become a man quietly.

A stutter, an unsure mumble oft' shaky,

Sometimes a triumph, mostly a dreaded reject.

Manchild the proud hunter quests for love,

And manchild looks back at it all, wishing he can just wear each rejection scar quietly.

Queens rebranded, all seem coy, a rebuke here an embarrassment there,

Man up! They say, It's a quest for a mate to breed.

Finally a home, hers to possess, the brood his to fend for,

And father looks back at it all, wondering if he is the brood's real owner, a king decrowned, quietly.

Seasons slip by, years mercilessly sap the energy,

little appreciation given though, all accolades denied.

Myriad Attempted coups abound; father this, father that!

And father looks back at it all, wishing stoically he will just overcome all quietly.

Life a harsh reality, livelihood a punishing burden,

Grinding heavily on shoulder, society the unforgiving sheriff.

Hands scarred, face lined, the Scraggly old man finally succumbs, and retires,

And grandpa looks back at it all, tiredly watches the world go by, just wishing life will go away, quietly.

- the wise -

Happy fathers day to all men; young, emergent or old.

Dedicated to you all tough warriors here, Whether admirably successful..... or tired, dejected and beaten.

Just do have a HAPPY FATHER's DAY.

Very nice, Billy! Did you write this?

Jeff

Yes Jeff, I wanted it to come out as prose imagine. A poem for daddies. But it came out as series of paragraphs! I dont know where to edit and arrange the paragraphs. So much for content writing. Am still learning!

Thanks for compliment. God bless. Much Appreciated.
