Keyword, Niche and Market Research
Updated

I'm asking because whist doing research I am constantly getting conflicting data between WA's tool and Google's Keyword Planner. I appreciate there would be some difference but

I don't know why the WA search volume is so high, I would like to know why because this is vital and critical information. I have the same issue with a similar long tailed keyword (Jaaxy shows 4.8 million monthly searches) Adwords and Market Samurai are around 720. Perhaps someone else will have some information to explain these huge discrepancies.

Read the post in the reply Below, this will clarify

The WA keyword tool is quite accurate. The Google Keyword Planner is designed for Adwords and as such is optimized for PPC.
You may find the answer in detail on this site. http://insightsintointernetmarketing.com/google-lies

Labman, Thanks for providing this link. I found the information very informative. Cindy

Welcome

I personally use market samurai and it's the best keyword tool I have used so far, you can download it for a free trial. After the free trial ends you can still use the keyword tool, but not the other tools. I like jaxxy but can't afford it at the moment, market samurai gives you detailed information on your competition, such as backlinks, pr ratings, keyword information-title, url, body. They also have tricks to pick up good keywords, and various other videos that are great.

Thanks blogdod. In that case, why, again referring to my example above, does the KWP show only 2,400 searches for the same term?

I'm hoping that you got your answer from Labman and the link he suggested. Best of luck to you.
Dawn

sorry to sound daft but what does exact match monthly search mean? When WA Keyword tool shows 69,997 searches in my above example, will this not be for the exact term "making money on the internet"?

Yes - Exact Term

Kyle, ever since you taught me that alphabet soup technique in one of the lessons, I'm fine with that. That's not to say that Jaxxy isn't reliable.

One thing I would like to add. I've been told to get jaxxy if I am going to be here for the long haul. It has so much value. However, I am not wanting to spend the money. And this in itself could cause my lack of success. Right? Just something to think about. Every little thing we implement has got to be spot on! Or else it will cause our own demise!
Rick

Not necessarily. Jaaxy isn't the be-all-end-all of success.

Thanks for your responses guys. Can anyone else shed some light on this?

When using the Google KWP, are you using an Exact Match monthly search volume. Because that will make a difference. ~Jude

KWP is exact match by default now so yeah.

I don't know of anyone using the Google KWP. And mostly everyone here that I do know of..uses Jaxxy. I think I will check into it myself.
The key word tool here at WA has been reliable for me, comparing with Jaxxy . Did you set up a free account to compare jaxxy?

Hi, if to be honest i'm so green and new with this keyword business, and so far used just Jaaxy and WA keyword tool, but now extremely interested in which direction this conversation going to go.

Just tagged this question. PS Just found this button.

Any way thanks for raising this question

Can I embed a WA training video in my article or link only? I think it would look better of I could embed the video. Is it the same for youtube videos too?

wonderful many thanks

I don't know where the link is to it, but you can type in How to use a screenshot in the question box.

You can check out my website http://www.learnaffiliatemarketingonline.org
I have many WA embed video.

There is not a way to embed the videos here. Take a screenshot, add the link(affiliate link at the top of the video page) to the image and place that on your site. This has the added benefit of getting people into WA where they can sign-up. (and generate affiliate income for you)

Thank you

maybe, but it takes away from the whole idea of what's called video marketing. You might better put a banner up then that links to the video page as there really is no real purpose of making a picture of a video if folks are lead to another website. It is an anoyance.

Yes, you can add video. You can add a screenshot of the video, then add the code under it. There is more training on it.

do you know where the training is as I cant find it?

How many pages or posts should you aim for before monetising? Whats a good number before you should expect to see it start producing traffic?

I would think a minimum of 10 posts before you start to see some traffic. This of course varies.
Monetize when the traffic is coming in. Your site should be established and ranking for some terms before you monetize.

Thanks very useful

I just get everything up at once. as in I have all my content researched first on the idea for the website... then I just pile in, set my pages up to fill with info, do all the back end 'Googely' stuff, bung a couple of affiliate banners/adsense up, then write like a madman to complete my pages ( which once done, stay as they are, and they are NOT usually monetised, they are usually packed with free useful info).. the movement on my sites is just to add fresh posts in a timely fashion, and they are what is usually monetised... i.e. writing about something, which leads to a landing page which leads to a free offer which leads to a product etc... depends what style you want to do it in as well... what is right, or what is wrong in terms of your question, I don't know the definitive answer, but I hope I've given you food for thought... best, Steve ;)

thanks Steve71 very useful to know your approach and I think thats similar to how I planned on doing it. I want to focus each day on creating new posts rather than all the setting up stuff.

You don't base it on the number of pages or posts, although putting in more pages and posts can bring you to your aim of being ranked and later on monetize. Make sure you have all the important basics -About Me, Privacy Policy, Your Home Page, then that's when you start putting in your pages, and posts.

Thanks Jen090 and I get what you are saying, I have created all those pages and aim to create posts every day - I have around 17-18 pages of content at the moment. I just wanted a benchmark.

I don't think it is determine by the number of pages or posts. Normally, if you could rank within the first 2 pages of Google search, you should get reasonable traffic.
