Setting And Achieving Goals!
Last December at Christmas Time, I was miserable. I weighed 259 lbs, which is not bad if your 7' tall, but I am only 6' tall. I could not bend down to tie my shoes without losing my breath and felt sluggish and tired everyday. What an awful way to live!
So i made a decision to set a goal to lose weight and change my lifestyle. My goal was to lose 60 lbs and get down to 199 lbs by Christmas 2015. I did several things when I set the goal.
- I wrote it down with the date intended to finish it and attached it to the refrigerator door.
- Made a commitment to watch calories and exercise daily.
- Being a veteran I joined the Move Program at the local VA Clinic. It is a program designed to teach you how to eat properly and offers ideas on exercise and diet.
- Started watching my calories through an app on my smart phone call "Lose it" and kept track of my steps and calories burned on my phone with an app called "Steps".
So what happened you ask? ( thanks for asking) I started slowly losing a little weight everyday and although there were lots of plateaus, I kept working at it and I am Thrilled to say that today I reached my goal 2 1/2 months early.
I now weigh 199, have lots of energy, feel wonderful and try to walk at least 3 to 4 miles per day.
So, I think i will go out and walk 4 miles to celebrate.
If there are any other members of WA struggling with weight issues. Please let me know how I can help you!

Hi bhoppy1:
Wonderful to hear that you have set your goals and achieved it. Have you set a new goal yet? Will you just keep going? Pat
