Becoming a Marketer the Wealthy Affiliate Way
Believe it or not, the hard part is over. You have already accomplished what can be considered the hardest part of beginning your online journey, which is taking a chance and starting in the first place. Maybe you are dabbling around with the starter package, learning some terminology, and getting your feet wet. Possibly you are a premium member pushing forward.
Your mindset has shifted due to wanting more out of life. You want that online business to supplement your income. You may want to replace your full-time income and free up more time in the future. The next step is actually learning, retaining, and implementing the training and becoming an effective marketer the wealthy affiliate way.
Becoming a Marketer
Running an online business is going to require hard work and consistency. Make no mistake there is no overnight riches or button to push where the dollar bills will fall from your tree in the backyard. Wealthy Affiliate as a platform provides each and every one of us an opportunity. An opportunity to learn valuable skills that will allow us to create assets with the possibility of earning income online.
There needs to be a mindset shift to taking action and learning something new every single day. Once that mindset is in place, you are on your way to becoming a professional marketer. It does not matter which niche you choose or what products you promote. Learning and implementing the strategies laid out within this platform is a sure way to eventually call yourself a professional marketer.
Content Creation
One of the most vital steps in transforming into a marketer with Wealthy Affiliate is to really have a content creation schedule. Solid content with keyword research is the lifeblood. With the Jaxxy Keyword Research tool provided within the WA platform, this task is made easy. The tool provides rankings, competition, search volume, and comparisons to keywords you are searching for.
Once the research is performed and you have an idea of where you want to rank, it's all about consistent writing and creation. For my preparation, I usually spend 30-40 minutes in the tool itself researching keywords for my topics. For my website in the golf niche, I was able to come up with 38 headlines with keywords to rank for. That is 38 pieces of content within a short period. Now, the task is creating that content consistently with a schedule.
After organizing all the titles of my articles into an excel spreadsheet (known as my content mill), it's time to organize a schedule of writing and publishing the articles. This depends on your time availability to write and create content. If publishing once a week is feasible, start there. If you have more time to dedicate and write by all means do it. However, no action will result in less traction and you will likely look back in a month and see little results.
The bottom line is to set up something that works for you and take action. You got this!
Getting Traffic to Your Work
The next important task is to drive traffic to the work you are putting out. You are spending time creating value through the written word and serving an audience. Let's get eyeballs to your site so you in turn are helping the world. Through keyword research and picking the proper terms to rank for, your website will see some traffic.
The more consistent you are with posting quality content to your site, the more traffic you will see through Google, Bing and other search engines. But, the buck doesn't stop there.
I highly recommend checking out THIS SERIES OF CLASSES ON PINTEREST , that are provided right here within the Wealthy Affiliate platform. Pinterest has become one of the leading social media platforms for search and will in turn provide you with the opportunity to drive solid, targeted traffic to your website.
Writing quality content and ranking in search engines should be the number one skill to focus on when starting out. However, proper promotion on certain social media sites like Pinterest will greatly increase your opportunity to receive traffic to your website.
Adding Calls to Action
Finally, once you have traffic and visitors to your website, what is next? In the end, we are all marketers and are creating our own online business. The beauty of this business model is not having to worry about back-end tasks like order fulfillment, shipping, and such. We are professional marketers that promote other company's products that we use and believe in.
Calls to action within your website and articles will be a key component when getting your audience to engage on your site. Engagement actually helps your rankings and search. Google looks at sites with quality engagement and quality content as more of an authority.
These calls to action can range from many things. A simple call to action asking your audience to leave comments that start a discussion on your article is a good place to start. Once your audience engages and becomes part of the conversation you are creating a community within your site and content.
If you have an email autoresponder set up (which will be discussed in my next article), have a call to action with a nicely put-together form to have them join your list. Email marketing is fascinating due to the fact you are able to have constant contact with your customers and followers so you can provide value and sell products in the future. You are building trust and authority within your niche.
How about having a poll on your website? Ask your visitors what they want to know about. What should you provide them with? This not only keeps an engaged community but allows your audience to fuel you with more content ideas for articles or videos. Provide value and allow your visitors to have a say in what they want to see from your next few pieces of content.
Wrapping Up
Becoming a marketer is no easy task. Please do not take for granted the training and skill development available here at Wealthy Affiliate. If you can come up with a plan to master content creation through solid research, content mill, and consistent creation you have really made a huge step.
Getting traffic to your work is essential and by taking a look at the Pinterest series mentioned and ranking for your keywords, there should be no reason not to have visitors coming to your site. Finally, add some calls to action. Ask for a comment. Get visitors to your list. Allow visitors to tell you what they want content-wise. Believe me, that will help both you with ideas and your visitors getting the value they asked for.
