AIOSEO and Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization has been a popular topic when building websites for years now. The focus is building your website with keyword research to create content that gets seen on the internet. In a nutshell, the content you create is content that you want people searching for answers to.

When you are writing on your niche site(s), especially through WordPress there is a tool called AIOSEO. This stands for All In One SEO and will optimize your posts and the overall website in order to help you get traffic. Below we are going to discuss the importance of the tool that you should have set up in your back office dashboard on WordPress.

The Importance of AIOSEO

So here you are creating content each and every day and organizing a schedule to post to your website. You are writing your heart out and have a ton of articles on your website. The problem is, you are getting no traffic, you are making no sales and the frustration is building. Why am I continuing to do this and not make any money?

The AIOSEO tool in the back office scores each and every post you write. This tool is a mentor. Think of it as providing you guidance. Once you are done with your post, this tool will suggest improvements that are needed to fully optimize your post for the best results of gaining traffic.

You must be looking at these numbers once a post is completed. This was a big factor in my first few articles. I did not really understand the importance of the tool. I had to go back and do a sweep-through on posts that ranked low on the score meter within AIOSEO. Use it as guidance moving forward.

Factors That Affect AIOSEO Score

Now, if you take a look above there is a snippet of one of the articles on my niche site. This was actually at 72/100 at one point. Like I mentioned above, I needed to go back and really learn the nuances of the program. Adjustments were made and the result is 95/100 for the post and its optimization.

Within each post you make on your site if you scroll down below your actual content, you will see the AIOSEO section with either content in red, which means that area needs improvement, or the content in green, meaning you are good to go and meet the standards for optimization. Green is good, red is bad!

Some factors you will come across that affect your overall score within AIOSEO are things such as keyword use. The focus keywords you are writing for the need to be visible in your title of the article. Also, it is encouraged that you use the keyword phrase somewhere in the first paragraph of your content.

Looking at the above image, you can see the post title has a maximum character limit. Staying withing that limit or just under is fine and will be fully optimized for you. However, pay attention because if you are over that limit there will be a red flag piece of content and that will be an area that needs attention.

The same goes for the Meta Description within AIOSEO as shown above. This section has a maximum of 160 characters. Think of it as a tweet that overrides the allotted character limit. It gets cut off and looks silly. AIOSEO thinks the same when optimizing the content you provided on your post. Pay attention to these character limits and revamp your content to be within those limits.

The Final Verdict When Ranking

After you have written your article and are ready to publish, there is a section within AIOSEO that will provide you the overall consensus of the content.

Looking at the above image there are three categories that are shown. Basic SEO, Title, and Readability. These are the three core sections of the content you have created. This tool is showing you where the article needs improvement and where the article is already strong and needs no attention. Remember, green means good, and red is obviously bad!

Once you see where the article needs improvement you simply scroll up to the section and begin to tweak the content. As the first image shows the overall score of 95/100 in the top right of the page when you are in a post. When you make changes, pay attention to that score because it will either go up or decrease into a lower score if the content is not optimized or edited correctly.

Once you have done all your edits and are confident you are ready to go, hit publish and make your post live for the world to see. The rule I am going with right now is to get your posts as close to a 100% score as you can. Aim for 90 or above to start. Once you learn more about the application and how it scores your content you should be seeing 100/100 on a more consistent basis. Which in turn will lead to more traffic for you.

Wrap Up Time!

Now that we have a better grip on the AIOSEO tool used on our sites, it's time to get to work and go through all the posts you have made and improve their scores. The factors such as keyword in the title and first paragraph, meta descriptions, and links both internal and external all matter.

I found a nice complimentary article written by RoseLee2020 that goes through the process of getting acquainted with AIOSEO. If you have not used the tool, I think the combination of this article and the one I just linked will certainly be of some help.

As always, please feel free to leave a comment and get the conversation started. Share your experiences using the AIOSEO tool and how you have been able to optimize your content for better rankings.
