Free range eggs for dinner

One of the best and simplest meals to have at times are free range eggs for dinner. After I spend endless hours working around the farm and study for my online business here at WA until all hours into the night, the last thing you feel like doing in the evening is to fuss over a time consuming meal. I keep my own chickens free to roam so they not only produce top quality eggs with a rich orange yolk and a fuller flavour, but it's also a more humane and natural way for them to live their lives. If you're one of the lucky ones who has their own backyard chickens then you know they will work hard and provide for you well.

How to cook your free range eggs for dinner leaves you spoilt for choice. It can be an omelette with your favourite toppings, you can scramble them, poach them, fry them, bake a quiche or eggs benedict just to name a few. So in a simple meal I get a good source of protein for maintaining, building and repairing tissues, essential vitamins and minerals like vitamin D for good bone health and teeth, vitamin B2 to build red blood cells and convert food into energy. Vitamin A supports good vision, cell growth and a healthy immune system. Iodine for healthy thyroid function, selenium for its antioxidant properties, calcium for bone health and the all essential omega 3 oils for optimum brain function which will see me writing blogs for a while yet.

You can buy free range eggs at most grocery stores or at the local farmers markets. Be sure to look for organic or animal welfare certification to ensure your eggs really are free range and expect to pay almost twice as much as cage eggs which have a lower nutritional value overall anyway.

So next time you're having free range eggs for dinner, you can be sure that staying healthy and eating well can be fast and efficient. I can rest assured I didn't compromise my diet by taking the easy way out.

Bettina

I'm with you, Bettina! My kids and me enjoy eggs from our chickens, ducks, ect. every morning, and sometimes lunch or supper.

That's fantastic, ducks will be next on my list too!

I actually have some free range hard boiled eggs in my refrigerator. I think I will have to make some deviled eggs. Yummy!!

Great idea Diane, I love eating them that way too and they keep me fuller for longer. Enjoy!

When I lived in a small town, I had a neighbor who had chickens and ducks. She gave away her fresh 'range free' or rather 'backyard free' eggs. They roam everywhere in her backyard. Delicious eggs. Now, I only buy range free eggs at the grocery store, they are remarkably better quality than regular eggs. And taste better. Willing to spend the extra $$$ for the sake of the chickens' and my health.

You got it Mira, can't beat farm fresh!

Wow, you know so much about the benefits of eggs. I myself love it so much so your post helps. Regards Sadie.

Hi Sadie, glad it gave you more reason to enjoy the humble egg!

I try my best to always get a free range organic eggs. But they are expensive.

It's great when they are on special so always keep an eye out it's well worth it!
