I just had the same problem your having. Go to nchsoftware.com and download their photo editor, it's free, and easy to use. I cropped my picture to 200x150 and had no problems loading it up. You should be able to take any image you can down load to your computer, resize it and load it up to your web site. Now I'm new to all of this myself, but this fixed my issue and I hope it at least helps you to some degree.

Unless things have changed since I was developing webpages in the past, you should always try to get the best quality photos as small as possible. Regular images can be shrunk down with PhotoShop (using the Save for the Web option) or other editors to 10k. Larger banners should be 20-30k. Unless your readers will be downloading the images you have on-line, the quality doesn't have to be amazing. Depending on whether your images are text, photo, or a combination, you may want to save them as gif, png, or jpg. Each file extension has better properties for different types of images.
This makes the pages & posts load much faster, providing your reader a better experience, with no wait times.

When you are running linux you can download fotoxx - very easy program to re-size, Loes

You can open Paint and re-size the image first and save it on your computer. Then you can insert it.

Under setting a general, you can have it set for anyone can register to leave a comment. You can check to see what you have there.

Hi Nathaniell, I've managed to get rid if the duplicate photos, but the extra layer of blog remains. Thanks for the permalink tip. I'm wondering if placing the tags or categories have created the double layer of blog? The strange thing is I've now got three lines of menu? I haven't tried reworking them since your suggestion. Hi Nathaniell and Dan, Thanks for responding. I actually put a long explanation of the issue, but I couldn't post it. The blogs are not linking to the full articles. Money Wise Online Scam article has a word count of 577 words. Garage sales has a 1,329 word count and Life success has a word count of 528. Full articles can be accessed via the top menu, however, if you click in the blog link which should take you to the full article, well you saw what happens. I can't delete the photo duplicated three times, I think this happened when it didn't look the photo downloaded on a couple of attempts, so I re-did it. It doesn't actuall have a page to delete, (that I can see without deleting the actual article). If also switched off comments, but am getting the leave a message on a couple of the pages. I think the problem is the link between the menu and categories, I've gone over the video walk through, I spent most of yesterday on it and just can't figure out where I've gone wrong. I don't want to have to start over again, or go deeper and find I have to scrap it all. Any suggestions would be grateful. Blessings Bethamy.

Yes, nathaniel is spot on and if you really want to fill your website with quality content aim for at least 500 word blogs... that will really help your website a ton.. keep at it, you're doing really well. best wishes

That is the way blogs are set up. There is a small bit on the front page, and it links to the full article.

On another note, your posts need to be much longer. Minimum recommended word count for a post is 100 words.

This may be a result of a theme change (if it wasn't there before). As Mark said below, you can disable it on a page by page basis. But also check in your theme options to see if there's a way to universally disallow comments on all pages.

Alternatively, you can turn comments off for your whole site by going to Settings > Discussion, and you'll find other comment options there too.

Hi - if you click on Quick Edit (as opposed to Edit) for your page or post, you'll see a tick box that simply says "Comments" - un-tick this, and save/publish your post/page.
