Do it for yourself

So it's been about 3 - 4 months since I began at WA but about 2 months since I started getting into my website and about a week since I actually started trying..... Oh my.

For myself personally starting new things is not difficult. No, what's difficult is maintaining a consistency, and I think for a lot of people this will be the case. I do, and will always however stick to what I start when I know it will benefit me in the long run and as I begin to truly get into website building and further engagement on WA I can see that my continuance here was the right decision.

While a fair few people here are here for ways to make money, I encourage you to re-evaluate slightly. When initially I believed that I was creating a website within a niche I enjoyed - not doing it for the money, I was kidding myself. I was doing it to try and desperately make extra cash and while for some the goal of increased cash flow is enough, for me, it is not something I care about enough to motivate myself.

So I took a step back. Figured out I shouldn't do this for the money, and instead aim to create quality content because I enjoy it. So far, I have found that creating content is no longer a hassle. I enjoy writing what I post and I've started to come into my own within my website. Money is now a welcomed consequence of my actions rather than the sole purpose for them, and in this mindset I am doing much better.

In my experience so far I haven't made a dime. As a matter of fact I got a notice the other day from Amazon telling me that they'll have to cancel my affiliate membership because I haven't made any sales in 90 days.

This is no surprise. I've been half-assing my website and haven't really been fully engaging with all the fantastic resources here at WA. But what I've gone through is an attitude adjustment. I want to get better at what I'm doing here. I want to get better at something I actually enjoy, and if I make some money off it as well that's really just a bonus.

So while this may not apply to you, and I'm not saying that everyone's hidden agenda to make money. If you are in fact struggling to maintain consistency, and create content because of demotivation. Re-evaluate why you began a website. Make sure you're doing it for yourself and you're enjoying it, because no one enjoys doing something they hate.

Anyway, I'm out.

First blog?? Maybe.

Done.
