You Cannot Create Motivation!
Sometimes we sit and talk with someone, a friend or acquaintance, who is really battling to achieve their goal we have the urge to help them, especially when we realize how close they are and they just need some guidance.
In situations like this remember that motivation cannot be created where there is NONE. The first step will be for such a person to want to be helped, else all your efforts will be wasted.
An old coach of mine once shared the following with me. This coach said he had a student with a lot of potential and he decided to make this person successful, even if it kills him (the coach). He said he nearly died trying!
This story saved me a lot of time in the years to come and I am realizing this every day working with people. Spend your time with only those that are motivated and you will be rewarded for your time and effort.

What a great reminder! Don't spend your time around people who have no motivation, it will only hamper your own ambition and drive. Thanks for sharing. :)

I found this title controversial because I think you can provide motivation to people. Dictionary.com defines motivation as providing the reasons for people to act in a certain way. So I think we should continue to try to motivate but like leading a horse to water you can't make them drink, we must know when to move on when the person does not respond to motivation. Great job creating controversy in your title. Makes people think.
