As others have said, yes it requires patience on your account to a degree and you do have to have a google account
If you have more than Google account (gmail), try signing out of all of them.
Then sign back into the one linked to your Adsense account and try launching Adsense.
This needs some patience on your part. Sometimes, new accounts experience something like this. Try check again after 24 to 48 hours.

Have you been approved by Adsense before?
If the answer is yes, then you need to login to adsense using that same email when you register with adsense, otherwise you will receive that message.

You commenting will use the email associated with your username. Change the email address on the username in Wordpress.
