What did I do last week?

I spent a good amount of time on doing research and following the training. Since May 1 was holiday. Plus may 7 was king crowning day holiday in thailand on May 6. So ya there was lot of holidays for me to work on my goals.
Wealthy affiliate does have plenty of good trainings here no doubt.

The main goal of last week was to find a niche. I kept asking myself, whats my niche? I looked inside my brain, there was nothing there. I tried to find my passion and my interest but apparently, I could not come up with something that would fit to be niche. So I asked google, "How to find a niche?"

I could have gone on any niche but I wanted to find intersection between my passion and profitable niches. So after doing some research on wealthy affiliate and google, I have come up with a strategy to find a perfect niche for me.

Steps that I am implementing to find my niche

  1. List my interest, hobbies, passion, problem, etc
  2. For each interest, generate upto 100 raw keyword variation.
  3. Check each of those 100 variations and find its volume and competitiveness.
  4. Using the data in step 3, check if that niche matches my `Go for it` criteria
  5. Repeat step 2 to 4 for each in the list

Here is the detail of each step

  1. List my interest, hobbies, passion, problem, etc
After brainstorming here are the list of interest that came up in my mind

Fishing, Hiking, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Trekking, Camping, Travelling, Backpacking, Cycling, Mountain Climbing, Yoga, Meditation, Cooking, Coffee, Tea, BBQ, Fashion, Shoes, Tortoise, Dog, Cat, Parenting and babies (P.S I don't have a kid nor I am married, but I would love to be prepared .. sssh don't tell my girlfriend :P ), Football, basketball, video games, home automation or smart home, smart watches, Shaving, exercise, organic food, fitness, Vitamins, Proteins, maniless ( I don't know,it just came up), Vaporizers, Quit Smoking, Zippo and lighters, Aroma Candles, Aroma soap,Aroma diffuser, Incense sticks, Natural Disaster Preparation, Urban farming, Vertical Farming, Cactus gardening, Muay Thai, Water, Bikes, Dirt bikes, Touring Bikes, Motorcycle Parts, Everest climbing preparation, Dream interpretation, Car accessories and electronics, Home decor, Telescope, Freelancing,Stock market, investment, Website Development, Programming, Laptops, Home office, Insurance, Zombie, Marvel universe, Naruto, Getting rid of Cockroaches, Surviving from Mosquitos, Getting rid of rats

Other niche ideas, that came up while going through categorie of amazon and ebay

Pillow, Bathrobe,Anime bathrobe, Decorative Clocks, Blanket, Party supply, wallpapers, Trucks Styling, Drones, Kitchen upgrades, Home Gym

Some more that I found trending right now

Ketogenic diet, Cbd oil, crossfit, Weight loss

  2. For each interest, generate upto 100 raw keyword variation.
I used following tools to find the keyword variation.
    - Jaaxy Alphabet soup
    - Manual Google Alphabet soup technique plus using the intents like Top Rated ..., Top ..., Best ..., … Review , … Comparison, .. Price, Best … under, … vs …, best … brand, where to buy …, how many ..

  3. Check each of those 100 variations and find its volume and competitiveness.
For checking volume and competitiveness, I have used fooling tools
    - Jaaxy
    - Google trends http://trends.google.com
    - Google Adword Keyword planner https://ads.google.com/home/tools/keyword-planner/
    - https://neilpatel.com/

  4. Using the data in step 3, check if that niche matches my `Go for it` criteria
I am considering following factors to measure the competitiveness of the niche/keyword
    - I am willing to write 1000s of word article and wont complain while doing it.
    - The particular niche is not too broad not too narrow. Atleast 50 different relevant articles about it can be written about it.
    - Has atleast few keywords or variations that has around 1000 searches per month.
    - Google keyword tools shows that there is some competition in the keyword for displaying ads. Atleast people are willing to pay $0.25 cost per click for that keyword or its variation
    - Competitor must be not be too high. There should be less than 100 QSR
    - For that niche keyword and its variation, even newer websites are being ranked (low page authority), which indicates that the niche is easy to penetrable.

  5. Repeat step 2 to 4 for each in the list
After I have all the data, it should be much easier to find the niche.

I am still working on finding my niche. I don't want to rush on finding my niche. I want to make sure that this is the right decision and dont want to go just based on my hunch.

This week mostly was about doing research on how to find a niche. Hopefully by next week, I will find my niche.
