I don't understand why creating a new user on Wordpress, can't you just edit the Admin? I just changed "Admin" to my name, and my posts show my name as the a
The purpose is to allow other people to access the dashboard in various different roles. EG if you have someone else that you want to write posts for you then they have a user id with a role of say Editor - they can do some things but not everything the admin can do.

Thanks for asking this question Barbara. I'm wondering the same thing. For now I'm a single-person operation, and adding a new user seems unnecessary.
Even if you eventually want others to contribute, you could just add a new user then.
