I am Starting from the Beginning!

So, I had a reality check just recently!!

I started this journey full of awe and excitement. Then, my house of cards came crumbling down. I realized that the niche I chose was not for me.

I know that any niche is a good niche, and, that we can promote any niche. But, my problem is, I am not a writer, I am not a blogger. I hated writing stories when I was at school. Still hate it.

So, writing content for a niche I was not connecting with, was a huge challenge. So much so, that I resorted to using a couple of free articles from a website that has articles for pretty much every niche you can think of. Free to use, free to share as you want anywhere. No copyright issues.

Bingo!! I thought!! Yes, this is the answer to my problem of not being able to write content. Yes, I know in the training they continually tell you to use your own words, not to copy others. Easier said than done if you are able to write, if you are a blogger or a writer of books or a journalist. For little old me, it does not come easily.

So, that is what I did for a couple of my articles. I thought I was doing so well. My website was coming along nicely, I had content. I had google indexing my site and articles.

Then, I shared my site to be reviewed on here by others. And, thanks to a lovely lady who I will not name. She brought my world crashing down in one big thump. She nicely reminded me that I cannot do that, I cannot use articles that have been used before. She said my article was copy and pasted from another site. And, she linked the site to prove it.

Well, you can imagine how I felt. I felt degraded, humiliated and in fact, I cried. Then, I went and reverted those articles back to drafts. Still sitting there, just waiting to be re written. If at all.

Funny thing is though, that site that she shared was not the site I got the article from. So, clearly others online (not here, I am sure) but, other websites out there are doing the same. And, they clearly have been indexed by Google??

But, even so. I know that I should not have done it. And, I thank the lovely lady for pointing out to me that I need to follow the training. And, I realize that now.

So, after a few days of feeling pretty down and dejected. I came to the realization that I am going to change my niche. Which I have, and, now I have started right back from the beginning, from the first part of the training to do it all again with a new website and a new niche. A niche I should have done in the first place.

Will I be able to write content for it?? Time will tell. Have not got that far yet! But, I am very passionate about this niche. I didn't do it from the start because, I thought too many people would be doing it and the competition would be too great. But, that is the challenge isn't it. To be better than the rest and get to that number one spot on the searches.

So, lesson learned. The hard way. Starting again is not that bad. In fact, I think it has helped to go over the first part of the training again.

Moral of the story. My story. Your story! Follow the training. It works. Ask for help if you need it. There are so many wonderful people on here who are only too happy to help you.

Thankyou to that lovely lady for helping me more than she can know! 🥰

PS - Who knew, I just wrote a blog post , maybe there is hope for me yet!😆

I would like to add further encouragement I am very similar. I am learning again here and we really have some great leadership here so I would go so far as to say learn all you can on this topic. We all have weaknesses, we are human it is allowed. People do notice improvements and are very encouraging here. Thank you for sharing your story that takes guts.

thankyou. It was hard for me to write it. And, to admit what I did wrong. But, I feel so much better for doing so. :-)

I always remember this famous line friend, "There's no easy way out". It's also one of the soundtrack song in "Rocky 4", but it's more like "No easy way out". However that is, we must build our own unique brand.
Every time you tell a story or retelling a story, it is best to tell it in your own style. Your visitors will recognize you and know you better. Don't feel bad about this. Let that be a thing to learn from as you've stated. Heck, I'm not even good at writing blogs too often. But when I do tell a story, it is of interests to many.
So straighten out that shoulder, start researching your niche, and let the keyboard to sing a note as you write feverishly to success. Lol! All the best!

thankyou so much for your encouraging words :-)

You will improve more, Karen.
Keep writing more quality content for your future readers.
As for me, although English is not my first language, with my determination and goal to succeed, if I can do it, so do you and anyone else.
Never too late to restart an engine if it still works :)

Joe

thank you Joe. I am not going to give up. Just a bit of a setback, but, I have time to start again and do it properly this time :-)

Hi Karen
A lesson for all of us. Thank you for your open honesty.

BTW, Google will index almost everything it finds. The problem with duplicate content is that Google only wants to rank one copy, high up, if it is good quality. They have to decide which copy to rank, if any. Once indexed, all but one copy will be ignored for ranking purposes.

Google has special ways for handling duplicate product info.

I have so much to learn. it is going to be a fun ride :-)

Writing is not that hard, you may start off free writing whatever comes to mind, then slowly shifting towards focused writing.

You do not need overthink it, it is exactly same as explaining something to your friend.

You may want to look up Grammarly dot com which would help you with your learning and writing, an avenue for you to explore.

Awesome blog post and share, thank you.

Thankyou Abie. It was really hard for me to write that blog. But, I felt I had to. I am so glad I did. I feel a huge weight has lifted. I will look up Grammarly. :-)

So very welcome.

You are doing great :)
